Anyone have any information on these caps?

I was quoted $1350 out the door with 2 free options such as carpet, drifferent side windows, pet screens, different front window, etc...

Sounds like a pretty good deal since it would cost about $350 more to get an ARE with the same options and a drive two hours away.

It sounds like it. They sell tons of them because they're the only place to get toppers within a 100 mile radius.

I studied the build quality on all of them in person all when I got mine. The Jason and ATC impressed me the least.

    That's amazingly cheap.

Here in Montana we have Leer, ARE, Century, and Snugtop. All of them will cost me $2,300-$2,500 for my DCLB with carpet, remote locks, LED light, pet screens, fold down front window.

Toppers, in my opinion, are way more expensive than what I feel they should cost.

I'm down here in Cody, WY and I've been in touch with all of those dealers in Billings, Century dealer in Billings by far has the worst customer service though email. I agree that toppers are way more expensive than what I feel they should be. That's why when I got this quote I was amazed at how cheap it was. With how many they sell locally, and how cheap they're wanting to sell them, it's almost a hard deal to pass up.

Search the forums for Jason, and you'll see plenty of examples. What I noticed was inferior hardware, windows, latches, inconsistency in the thickness of the fiberglass/ roughness when I looked around the bottom edge, bad color match, and cheesy C-Clamps to hold them onto the bed. I would just encourage you to go check out a shop with Leer, ARE, Snugtop, Century and then compare them. Jason caps have their place. They're definitely the budget option, but it comes at a cost. If it was a beater work truck it might be OK, but not on my brand new personal truck. Also check out the warranties.

FWIW, I went with the Snugtop Rebel and I have zero complaints.

I've searched Jason and all I found were few older threads with hardly any bad reviews, quite a bit of good reviews actually. I've searched ARE, Leer, ect and found a lot of good reviews and a few bad ones. So as far as researching online I'm still indecisive on which one.

The problem with checking out other shops is that there are no other shops near by.

The way I have it chalked up right now is if the top doesn't turn out as great as I'd had hope but isn't a complete POS (in other words, is an okay topper), at least I saved $350.

Good way to look at it. It' definitely an okay topper. If it was a complete POS, the company wouldn't survive as long as it has.

I owned 2 Jason shells on a trucks that I owned over years and I never had any problems with them. Another brand you might consider is a Ranch brand shell, they are also cheaper than the Leer's and ARE'S. The color match on both shells was very good andI never had any problems withe the Ranch shell either. It all comes down to personal preference and how much money you want spend.

Post some pics/ review for others! You'll like the functionality. It's nice having a cap, if you don't haul tall stuff all the time. People ask me all the time, why not just get an SUV. It's awfully nice being able to hose out the back when you need to, and have a secure place to lock your gear in the back of a truck.

I agree wholeheartedly. I bought a new Leer cap back in 2003 for my Dodge full size- Cost $1,000 new in Maryland. I priced a mid rise topper here (in Montana) for my new Silverado with a 6' bed- $2,100. 15 years and they are more than twice the price..

    Crazy expensive.

I lucked out and scanned Craigslist and found a 'used' ARE mid rise, color matched cap in Colorado. I picked it up when we went to see our relatives over Christmas. Guy had it less than 3 months- truck wouldn't fit in his garage. $1,500 bucks..

Anyway- just in my opinion and to add to the thread- I have never seen a Jason. I can say that my old Leer cap seemed to be a bit higher quality than my current ARE. The ARE has some waves and imperfections in the mold, whereas my Leer was like glass. However those caps are a decade apart in manufacturing..

No hauling tall stuff here, just my two dogs.

Went in tonight and put a deposit on a Jason Cap "Pace Series". Should be here beginning of February, I'll post back with photos and a review of the cap.

Received my Jason Cap today. Waited exactly 3 weeks like the dealer told me. Overall I am very pleased with the topper so far. I do see some cons with it but for the price I think it's still a great topper.

To start with the cons, I was suppose to have dog screens installed but instead I got a sliding front window. Secondly, there are two decently sized holes on both sides of the rear window where the glass meets the topper and tailgate (see pic 1). Third, the sides of the topper overhang the bedsides by about 3/4 of my index finger (see pic 2). All of these cons aren't that big of a deal to me really. Specially since I knew I was getting a cheaper end topper.

Pros are; the color matches perfectly as far as I can tell tonight when I picked it up. This was my biggest concerns. Secondly, the carpet and windows seem perfect. The carpet is nice and tight and the windows slide with ease. Third, the price! $1350 out the door with carpet and sliding front window seems like a steal to me.

I am very pleased so far with the topper. I'll hopefully be able to continue to update this thread over-time as I use this topper throughout the coming years.
