Yesterday I rerouted the exhaust crossover and deleted the 2nd set of cats. It sounds the same running through the stock muffler but is much louder when the cut out is open. It's also a bit more raspy. I planned to reuse the stock y pipe but I didn't like the idea of going 2" to 2.25" then back down to 2" so now the exhaust is 2.25" all the way back from the O2 sensors.

I still need to wrap where it passes by the t-case but this is pretty much it.

 

Final product looks good! did the 60* and 90* work out allright for ya?

nevermind, I know what you're talking about. At first I thought you were referring to the exhaust pics.

 

The butterfly valve on the cutout had been leaking like a bitch and making a lovely rattling sound under load so I removed it until I can fix it and replaced it with a piece of exhaust tubing flattened out and shaped to replace the valve assembly. The cannibalized exhaust was from Ryan's(rmb_crew) truck. Thanks Ryan!

 

Jason, i remember you asking about the exhaust wrap, but i can't remember if you bought any or where you used it. but if you haven't wrapped the crossover section, i'd considder doing so. the guy i wheel with up here kept trashing u-joints on his land rover, and when he finally had someone look at it they said it was because the exhaust was so close it kept burning up the grease, and killing the bearings. i hadn't though of heat wrap at the time, so we just rerouted it. might just be the picture, but yours seems to run pretty close to it. i'd hate to see you toast a u-joint.

 

I routed it kind of close. I wrapped it immediatly. I didn't run it more than a few miles unwrapped because I was concerned about melting the solenoid on the t-case. I didn't even consider the u-joint but that makes me glad I wrapped it right a way. Thanks for having my back.

how are those stainless zip ties holding the wrap in place for you? mine kept on slipping and the wrap would come undone, so i had to move on to hose clamps.

 

Yes, they are stainless ties. Mine seem to be holding on well. I made them as tight as I could. Hose clamps are a good idea and I bet cheaper. I wish I thought of them but these were right next to the wrap of course.

 

i think i had some left over from a preveous project. i pulled them as tight as i could, but just couldn't get them to work. good to hear you had better luck

It sounds the same with the cutout closed which is removed until I can fix it. I replaced it with a block off plate cannibalized from Ryan's chop.
