JB Weld is just as good as Weld for plate bumpers.

Moat days I'm happy my state doesn't have a compulsory safety inspection, some days...

The finger prints in it too!

    :ohsnap:

Hope this giant hunk of sheet metal doesn't end up through somebody's windshield.

    Stay safe y'all happy Friday.

Not going to lie I was peepin' those 6" bulges but saw a little more than I was prepared for.

Also I can't imagine a 4 Cyl auto on 35's with stock gears.

Working in an automotive shop I've seen many questionable "repairs" but I've never seen a bumper JB welded together although it does look like maybe some noodle welds under it?

It is only 6” longer radius than OE. IIRC the rears ratio is 4.11 in the 4cyl auto. Yes slow going though. How many spacers were used to fit the tires and rims with rubbing?

This is not a building error. This is a 'break away' feature to prevent frame damage when the bumper smacks something hard.

Similar principle as energy absorbing bumpers that have collapsible bits. Like the OE stuff people throw away when they add a steel bumper.

Yeah, it'll break away as the driver is rolling on the I-state at 70 mph, run over it, rip out the oil or tranny pan, puke parts/oil everywhere and the driver behind will hit the part infested slick to swerve.........multi-car pile up.......

I go around and when I see other cool Tacoma's I like to gawk and take pictures to share with other people who like to gawk and share Tacoma's as is kinda the point of this forum.

And when I see something that is a potential safety hazard to innocent bystanders I think it should be addressed yes.

It's not like I was crawling under it inspecting and critiquing it, nore did I never touch it, but I could see that from standing next to it as I could from simply walking by it in a parking lot.

My intent was to hopefully find them here online and then to offer to at least legitimately weld their shit up for them on the cheap so it didn't become a hazard.

I also covered their license plate because I respect them enough to not want someone to go vigilante on them.

    But sure, I'm an asshole.

    You mean the hot glue?

Not GMAW welds but literal hot glue.

Maybe the weld was so bad, they used JB Weld as caulking?

Being a carpenter, I see caulking used all too often to cover up questionable work.

Just ignore the pot stirrers. Its their way to satisfy their existence. Go ahead and continue. It good for all to see improper builds. Perhaps it will help someone make a better, safer build.
