That doesn't look like jb weld. It should be a dark gray when mixed.

My coworker tried this on his jeep Cherokee for several years. He had to refill it everyday. No lie, I looked in the back of it one day and counted 21 empty jugs of antifreeze. I told him what he spent on antifreeze he could have already bought a radiator and paid a shop to change it for him. But that’s how he rolls.

Yeah color can't always make for good inspections over digital screens. The consistency looks too chunky and too much like fudge which made me think your mixture wasn't the proper ratio that looks more liquid when properly mixed.

all fixed up! Bought a new lower rad hose while I was at it. The upper hose is still fairly new.

Funny, when I called my local dealer, they wanted $30 for the rad hose but then told me to order online and choose "local pickup". The hose was $23 after tax on their website...

Yeah it used to only be a few dealers that did online parts sales but there’s enough money to be made in selling parts online that they’re getting wise. I’ve been doing the same thing at my local dealership - $3 pickup fee instead of overpriced brick and mortar retail prices or paying for shipping. There’s a user interface a bunch of dealers are using now where it used to be each dealer had to come up with their own.

    On the topic of JBweld.

I had a lowered S50 swapped E30 once. It was low as hell with the oil pan 1" off the ground. One night with a few friends inside I musta hit a speed bump in a lot and cracked it.
Next morning, big oil puddle uh-oh. At the time I didn't have the space to swap the aluminum pan , so I patched it with JB weld. I drained the pan as much as possible with drain plug.
I literally had oil seeping through the JB weld as I was applying it, but I would dab it with paper towel, and re-apply a layer. Ended up lasting forever. It was the liquid kind too. Wish I knew of the putty back then.
One guy JB welded the rear of his diff cover here since it was porous and leaking oil- I think its been working well for him haha.

    PS: Good idea replacing it

Seems the same as before, temp gauge a little under the halfway mark. Sorry I don't have more specific numbers.

it's so crazy hearing stories like this but in my situation is was a very quick fail. Yeah I'm glad I replaced it, all in all, the whole swap cost me maybe $190 (new rad, new coolant, distilled water, lower rad hose)
