I would just go standard duty unless you plan on jumping your truck or doing high speed shit.

I agree on standard duty. I'd question where the suspension will fail on a hard impact at slow speeds. In my experience the spindle will bend before the UCA so if you're running stock spindles don't buy the HD arms.

So I was getting some rush on the ball joint housing of my JBA HD UCAs. They were only a few months old so I contacted Marlin and he set me up with a replacement pair. Normally I would through these on myself but I haven't had the time. I dropped it off at the shop and hour ago and just got a call from the mechanic saying the shaft of the bolt on the new ball joint does not fit through the hole on my spindle. Has anyone had this issue before? I emailed Marlin and am waiting for a response but I figured I would ask here.

I don't believe there are side specific ball joints.

I talked to Marlin and he is dropping another set in the mail tomorrow. Looks like it might have been just the wrong size stud. I will be putting them on myself this time. Once again outstanding service from JBA.

Agreed, I saw a set on a local first gen and it seems he's getting a broad range of business. Great seeing them around, they're a great product!

Well marlin got me those other ball joints ASAP. Put them on in my driveway in 45 minutes, too easy and convenient. Compared the ones that the mechanics could not install with the old ones on the truck and saw absolutely no difference. So this whole issue was due to the incompetence of some mechanics and probably could have been avoided if I had put them on in my driveway from the beginning. Now I’m out the labor and most likely the other ball joints considering they tore them all up trying to put them on.

I am guessing the gap the mechanics were talking about is the one between the boot and washer when the boot isn’t pushed down.... as seen below.

    Lots of sail boat fuel
What's everyone spraying the CO and UCA down with in the winter to help combat rusting?

What are you doing with the "wrong" ball joints? My current ones are rusty as fuck. I just haven't purchased the new ones yet because I don't want to have to front the cash for them.

Quick question, hoping to go to 33's soon (255/85/16) stt maxx tires and would like to keep the same rims. Says less than factory back spacing is required and my pro comp 5001's have 0mm offset or 4.50 backspacing on an 8 inch wide rim. So i should be okay then correct? Im only on 265/75/16's for bow im just wondering about the future.

I don't think it's too picky on what grease it gets. I just squirted whatever was in my grease gun into them and they haven't exploded yet. It was the same stuff I used in my U joints
