Looking to lift my tacoma 2-3”.
Acquired parts over the last few years and looking to slap her together.
Running 255/85/16s on steel 16x7 16 hole Tacoma rims.

From what I gather there’s not an enough offset to use JBA’s?

unless I run a mega spacer which sort of defeats the purpose of running this combo.

will I run into this problem with other UCAs or just with JBAs?

    thanks in advance.

255/85/16s are skinnier than 265/75/16s so i would assume that they would be fine?

The only reason you would need upper control arms would be due to a 3” lift. Not that tire size.

    265/75/16 are about 10.5” wide.
    255/85/16 are about 10” wide.
    235/85/16 are about 9.25” wide.

It says on the JBA website JBA UCAs will not work with 255/285/16 tires on stock rims, it needs an offset. But 265/75/16 tires will work and they are recommended on their website.

Need offset and backspace information for your wheels but I have the same size tires on 3rd gen TRD Pro wheels (IIRC 16x7, 4.5bs, -13 offset) and I just just rub at full lock.

FWIW. 265/75/16 and 235/85/16 are the same height. Both of which are close to a 31. 255/85/16 is a 33. The taller tire may be more likely to rub.
Edit to add: But the big factor for the UCA rubbing will be your offset

I'm very interested in this as well because that's the only thing holding me back from getting the JBA's. I may want to move from 265/75/16's to the 255/85/16's.

I’ve spent most of the night trying to find what the backspacing of my stock 16 hole 16x7 steelies are... with no luck.

I know how to measure for them but just haven’t yet.

    This and that...
Running 265/70/17in on stock UCA's with 2.5 inches of lift. The Wildpeaks get pretty close to the edge of the UCA. I would imagine when I go to a 255 it would make this a tad better with stock rims at 0 offset. Just bought some Spidertracx though. Would like to know more about a skinny with those UCA....

Anyone run 255/85/16 on stock wheels with the JBA uca? Will I need spacers to clear the uca?

Hoping someone is still a part of this thread. Did anyone ever confirm if 255/85/16 will rub on the JBA? Weather it be at the ball joint or further up on the arm while turning?
