have you considered running that center tube all of the way back to the hitch area? recovering just the trailer from the hitch shackle isn't a big deal, but if you have to have someone recover you from the trailer with the truck still attached, you could bend that back section in a heart beat.

I thought about it...originally. But I think it's unnecessary. None of the production trailers I've seen run that tube all the way down.

On top of that, my bumper is 1/8" thick with the recovery point nestled in the middle with 1/4" plate gussets top and bottom which is far beefier than any of other ones I've seen. It would take a a hell of a lot of force to bend it.

Can't decide if the tongue should be longer or not. Always a tradeoff.

Water tank showed up and it is bad ass.
Nearly perfect dimension wise. 21 gallons. Internal baffles every 18". And it was only $100.

You are making some serious progress! I have a feeling this is going to he one of the better homemade trailers. I'm looking forward to watching this develop.

So the axle that I received was not the axle I ordered. Dimension wise it was correct, but it had standard spindles instead of Super Lube spindles. And I'm lazy and absolutely despise packing wheel bearings. I mean I'll pack them the first time so I know they are good, but after that...too lazy. The vendor is sending me a new axle (hopefully the right one) so I'm without axle at the moment. Fortunately I was able to do all the mock up work I needed with the other axle.

In other news, I had an afterthought. And that was trailer light wiring. I didn't really want wires hanging off the bottom of the trailer, even loomed. So...a couple of holes in the frame and with the help of a fish tape, I got the majority of the actual trailer wiring threaded.

I'll be using these small sealed LED's for side markers.

And these sealed LED lights for tail/brake/turn signals. The outer trim is about 1/4" too wide to fit the 3" frame, but nothing some quick work with a cuttoff wheel won't fix.
