Great photos! The American Flats is a really cool area. I've been going out there ever since I moved up here 20 years ago. Back in college we used to raise he'll out there, so many good memories. FWIW they've been on the docket for demolition for a long long time, it'll be interesting to see if it ever happens. I know many people like myself would be bummed if it does.

Yeah the remnants out there prove there was no shortage of good times that were had.
I will say though, going out there solo at dusk...was creepy as fuck!

I hear ya. I know some weird ass shit has gone down there over the years. We used to freak ourselves out with the help of some party favors back in the party days.

The final permits for demolition are currently being approved and the BLM (my summer employer) plans to have it demolished by spring.

    Thankyew.

Also made one other stop today in Carson to get my truck weighed. Truck is completely full of gas and winter loaded right now. Which means two full sized spares, 10 gallons extra gas, bed toolbox full of tools and recovery gear, snow chains, snow clothes, and emergency gear.

    Oink oink....

Damn. I wish mine was that light. No tent, no gear, no skid plates, and just me and a passenger last weekend at the landscape place. Weighed in at 5700lb. I am well into the 6000lbs. with gear.

I was gonna say, anything under 5,000 is pretty damn decent for what it is.

Can't say I agree considering GVWR of the truck is 5100 lbs and original curb weight was ~3500.

    Or what.... :anonymous:
