Thanks man. And yes, cancer sucks. Cancer and I have quite the history but we plan on kicking its ass again. This is one of only 2 stickers I have on my truck.

Today was litterally a double facepalm day.

Damn CEL came back on again and threw the same EVAP codes. The last time it happened I bench tested both VSVs under the hood and they both worked as expected. I didn't wanna crawl under the gas tank to test the VSV by the charcoal canister at that time cause it was a PITA to get to. So, I crawled under and pulled that one out today. It bench tested perfect. FML. Put it all back together and decided to test the two VSVs under the hood again. Low and behold, I never connected one of the VSVs pigtails.

The next facepalm could have ended very bad. After doing the LT, I torqued and retorqued every damn bolt I touched and couple I didn't just for good measure. I was sure I didn't forget any of them. However, today (1 day post alignment) I hear this clunking sound coming from the drivers side front suspension like something is loose. Only happens when backing up and hitting pot-holes/bumps. I'm thinking the retards at Firestone effed something up.

I give it a once over and don't notice anything odd. But of course I'm thinking about it the entire drive home from work. Here I am, doing 65 down the highway and I have this "AHHH FUCK ME" epiphany moment. I pull off to the side of the freeway hop out and look. I was correct. I didn't miss any of the suspension bolts.

The brake caliper bolts, well now that's a different story. On both sides, I didn't torque them. In fact, I didn't even tighten them down. They were only finger tight. Bottom bolt on the drivers side had come out completely and is probably on the side of 101 somewhere. The clunking sound was the caliper banging around. The top bolt on the passenger side had unscrewed almost all the way out and was litterally hanging on by a thread. I screwed them all in as best I could with a pair of pliers I had in my truck and limped home. I had the right size bolt in my box-o-bolts but jesus what a boneheaded mistake. Just glad I realized it before I lost another bolt.

The VSV is no big deal. That's just emissions and doesn't really affect anything. The caliper bolts.....yeah not good. Yesterday could have been a really bad day.

    Glad I'm not alone

    I threw a P0441, P0442, and P0446.
In the end, I fixed nothing. I think the original problem was I just had sand on the gas cap and it wasn't making a good seal. I cleaned that and then tested the VSV's manually and facepalmed my own problem by not connecting one of the VSV electical connectors back up. Oddly enough I kept throwing the same 3 codes as the first time, but manifested from a different (retarded) problem.

What codes are you throwing? If they are the same lemme know. I can send you the docs on how to bench test your VSV's (3 in total).

First two are the easy one's to get too and easy to test. The third is a PITA to get to. Instructions are easy step by step test. All you need is a meter and a battery to do a full test. If any part fails, replace the VSV. Denso part # is printed on all the VSV's so it makes for quick work if you wanna find the part online.

If they all test good, I'd replace you gas cap first (cheaper). If you still throw the same codes, its either charcoal canister or a leak in one of your vacuum lines.

Holy sweaty ball sack batman!
There are very distinct advantages to living in the bay area, one of them being weather.

I have that crap printed out in my truck and the stuff to test the VSVs. Maybe in between beers I'll test them for you while we're at Pismo.

One other quick question. When you fill up with gas and pop off the gas cap (after you've been driving a few miles) does the filler make that nice air gasping sound, or no? If no sound, you for sure have a bad VSV.
