I blew a tweeter on my 11' Tacoma and am looking to replace it. I can find the 08' JBL speaker for half the price of the 11' but don't know if it will work. The part numbers are 86160-04100 and 86160-04110 for 08 and 11 respectively. Anyone know why they have different part numbers and if the 08 will work on my 11? OR any suggestions as to what replacement tweeters will work good with the stock JBL stereo?

my understanding is that the amp changed in 2009 to include direct connection to the tweeters vs the older style parallel wiring - i should think this might account for the differences in the part number but perhaps there is more of a difference in the actual speaker

    -my 2 cents

I don't see why a aftermarket tweeter wouldn't work . Would be cheaper and probably sound better .

Any idea as to which aftermarket tweeters fit best in our trucks?

If you're replacing the speakers with stock speakers you're wasting your money. Buy a good 6.5" component set, make a set of baffles, and enjoy it!

Local shop wants $100 for a pair of tweeters and they won't be up to par with the rest of the speakers, anyone wanna chime in with their opinions on what tweeters to buy or what component set to go with?
Also will the stock headunit work or would I have to get an additional amp to power these speakers? I sort of know radios but not that well.
