Are you still running the Punch sub in the OEM box? Im guessing you are still happy with it unless i missed a change somewhere

I installed the punch in the oem sub box before xmas and have been very happy with it. So much that i'm not sure if i'll ever get around to replacing the jbl amplifier that was my original plan. Also upgrading the hu to a joying helped with the sound a lot

I replace my sub with a Polk and unfortunately I did not have the same result. Can you post a link to your sub again please? I might return mine and switch.

I plan on going with a CompRT kicker in the stock box but I’m running a Kenwood HU with morels up front. I’ll have an Audio Control amp running everything. Hoping for good results from the kicker in that OEM box

So I have pretty much the same speaker setup and had the JBL DSP 8channel Amp with pacamp pro installed yesterday. After getting everything installed and connecting the preouts to the interface he wasn’t getting a data signal from the pacamp. After talking with crutchfield and Pac they decided that it must be a faulty interface so Crutchfield is sending me another one, but I can’t help but think that something went wrong during the installation and he’s going to have the same problem when the new interface comes in

See post 109. I ended up not using these because not enough bass.

Out with the old and in with the new

I changed things up a bit, and ended up using the 6x9 infinity kappa in the doors from their component set (same speaker as the JBLs 6x9 woofer).

Click the the spoiler button below for the parts list. Order total:$827.08, but I bought used-like new whenever I could.

On to the tweeters. Some Generic dynomat shows up tomorrow for the doors because the 6x9 woofers hit way too hard! The truck sounds nothing like the OEM JBL system anymore. It's so much better!

Did you add any deadener to the box or back wall? Any rattles from the sub

The sub didn't rattle one bit. We have some deadener showing up tomorrow because the front door plastic rattles like crazy. I may have extra for the back wall, but for now, it didn't need it. The dedicated 6x9s woofers in the doors made all the difference. BTW, the oem screw holes on the sub box, that didn't get used, are factory sealed from behind.

I added Noico to my front and rear doors but haven’t done the wall yet.
    Good info

Everything is OEM JBL 2 ohms, and I'm not hearing any distortion at high volumes. :notsure:

Ok gotcha. I’m using an OEM box but everything is swapped out. I picked up the box to keep a hidden look but will be changing out the sub in it

Got the same sub and door 6x9's. While they sure are a ton better than stock jbl w/jbl amp. I just took my fun car out for a spin for the first time this year. And I forgot how much better a properly amp'd sub hits. So now replacing the stock jbl amp is back on my menu.

How did you wire it? Do you have to run wires to all the speakers or can that be done from the headunit or the existing amp? The DSP amp works with the existing one right?
