    Hey all,

I have a 18' trd off-road with the premium tech package, meaning I have the JBL audio system. I find that especially in the summer, after just a few minutes of blasting the music, it gets MUCH quieter. I think it might be the amp over heating, but not sure. Can anyone attest to this? If that is the problem, would a new amp fix the problem, or would me moving it or changing something to let it cool off faster fix the problem?

Yep. Not sure if this is an issue that is common or that everyone (who blasts their music often) has...

Nah. I blast my music on the freeway anything from AC/DC to VANHALEN.
    I've never had any problems.

    Yes. Same as yours.
I wouldn't mess with it til you're out of warranty.

While there, have them check for any updates.
My Entune was shutting off and rebooting.
They did an update on Entune and transmission.
Everything is good after that. Amazing what the update did. The idle , shift and redline is smoooooth.

I had the same issue with it shutting off every time I would get a phone call. They updated it last time I was in. Not sure if they updated the tranny tho

Depending on the dealership , they'll bring it up .
You could also mention it for them to check.
When I brought mine in , he said there's an update for TSS and transmission so they'll check for updates. My TSS never gave me issues so I told them I'm good. That was going to take an additional 2 hours.

Submitted for your consideration: Download a free sound meter app. Measure you Taco's sound at start and when you think it changes.

By the way, there are free hearing apps too. Maybe it is your ears becoming less sensitive to sound. Do a "double blind study": measure your ear acuity at the same times.

Be interesting to "hear" what you find out!

What level do you listen at. I can get to 38-42 before it clips and sounds bad. Might be the amp threshold decreasing sound because of that. VW have done this for years, where you get drop off at certain levels

Could the auto volume be set too high? It will change the audio volume based on the speed of the vehicle

I thought that could be that my ears were adjusting to it at first, but I asked some of my buddies what they think and they agreed that it got MUCH quieter after the music is blasted for even just a few minutes.

Okay. Then you'll need some empirical data to support your warranty claim. Do the sound meter app and take it with you.

I have not had any problems with my premium audio. I blast it upwards of 45+ at times for extended periods with no distortion or any noticeable reduction in decibels. I do know that if I have the ignition off and blasting the stereo that after about maybe 15-20 minutes it shuts itself off. I assume that is just a safety feature for not running the battery down but at this point I have not researched that.

I had a jbl home system, like 20 years ago, and I still believe that it was/is the best stereo system I have ever owned.
