I think its Toyota's version of like a speed volume equalizer, when I took delivery of my 2020 I was like WTF does this sound like garbage compared to my 19 and 17 JBL, messed around in the delivery bay for a good 10-15 mins, min I turned that off, sound quality increased as well as volume. Then I just played around with the unit equalizer and my spotify equalizer and all is good.

Bluetooth is going to destroy the integrity of your sound and compress everything significantly. Hardwire in and play over USB.

Also keep in mind if the crossover on a sub is set correctly you will not be able to tell the bass is coming from the sub itself. If you can the crossover is set too high or the sub volume is wayyy too high. You should not hear base coming from the back seats, it should be seamless. It will just sound like bass coming from the speakers.

Agreed, just wish we had bluetooth apple care play, hate wires dangling and being tethered in.

I will say I sat in my buddy's @SwagThor 2018 colorado ZR2 with the bose system. It bumps HARD and sounds great while doing it. I was a bit jealous. I do love the clarity of the JBL in stock form, but I'd like more rattle in my mirrors

Bose actually makes some decent car systems. Oddly enough they use 6.5 inch subwoofers for them too (old cars use the dual 5 inch). Not sure if the zr2 uses the 6.5 inch sub, but they are tanks of subs for their size.

I'm pleasantly surprised with my 8" powered underseat Sub. I can only imagine what a 10" underseat would do, (if it fits).

It requires a low level input, which is perfect, since the rear door speakers are such a waste, and hence low level power.

That's interesting! I wonder if that smaller woofer size keeps the bass from being overwhelming. I've always gravitated towards bose, but one can't be picky when one wants a tacoma lol. I also have a 2014 370z sport. It doesn't have the bose system, but I did sit in one with it, and it too had surprising bass. This was surprising since the sub is a little pancake that sits inside the spare.

Its all about the enclosure they use for them. Bose makes shit speakers, but they make amazing boxes for them.
