I have a 2020 premium JBL system that on the couple of rare times I cranked up the volume the speakers will shut off after about five minutes.

I am not talking super loud but loud enough to where I should be able to get my money’s worth on a “premium “ system. We are talking about a 50 on the volume display.

is this normal? Something to protect the speakers?

Possibly amp getting hot? I just got mine and I am partially deff from years of riding loud motorcycles. I got it up to 50 on certain songs but stay just below that. Thats my best guess, I enjoy the JBL and use to have really loud systems growing up. I feel it is perfect for me, my cadillac CTSV had the JBL and it was a little louder but that was a 70k car back in 2011 when tacomas were still around 30k.
