Finally upgraded my sound system for the second time and what a difference! This time I matched a new amp with the speakers I purchased on the first round and added this sweet sub enclosure that fits like a glove! I won’t waste time with descriptions what I added because you can look at the pictures and see what’s in there! I got the enclosure on eBay and all speakers from Sonic Electronics! The interface was a gift from my woman and that was from Crutchfield! If you’re thinking about doing it I encourage you to do so because it’s totally worth it!

I definitely need to do some research on this. Is the interface plug and play? I've been on the fence gutting the system but I can't find a quality head unit that fills the OEM space the way I want. This might be a good compromise.

I really want to do a system after doing the tweeter upgrade, but not sure with the off-roading gear I store back there. But could be nice

Really like that box, How does it sound? does it have any internal bracing? does it flex at all?

I’m using the factory JBL head unit which does require keeping the factory amp but it just fits beside the box behind seat! To answer your question, yes it’s plug and play! I researched this endlessly before purchasing and there are other options but this is what I chose and so far so good! June will be 1
    year so....

    Kwisak,
You’re definitely losing all storage behind seat but I didn’t care about that!! I’m an audiophile and need my tunes right!!

What's the need to keep the factory amp?

    5nahalf,
It friggin bumps dude!!! I don’t have it secured only because it fits pretty snug and when you close the back rest it ain’t moving!! No noise at all! Only thing I would advise on is installing the rear side panels before dropping the box in! Yeah it’s that tight, but fits fine!!

    B.Peak,
because of keeping the factory head unit and all its features! I wanted to keep all of that stuff plus steering wheel controls! If you want to do away with all of that you’re better off going with Rockford Fosgate DSR-1! Or some other DSP processor/amp! Only then can you use an aftermarket head unit and do away with factory amp!!

Not to hijack a great thread, but I bought an underseat 8" Powered Sub. It's nowhere near as good as this threads 2x10" Subs, but just adequate for me. Like you, I have a world of stuff stocked behind my seats...… I too did the tweeters, but not the doors.

I originally had a JL Audio 500/5 behind the seat and an 8” Pioneer sub in the small compartment behind left rear seat but I didn’t match the rms watts to the sub and it blew unfortunately! That’s when I did this upgrade and matched everything to avoid speaker damage!!

I understand now. The factory amp is not just an amp.

Correct!!! It powers up the head unit but the speaker outputs aren’t used!
