Has anyone experienced the difference between the JBL and the Standard audio system? None of the dealers in my area has a JBL equipped Tacoma in stock and if I want one it would be a 3.5 week wait for the exact one I am looking for. Is it worth the wait?

I like my premium JBL w/ Entune. Sounds great. I'm no bass bumper but the system has enough bump to make me happy.

I'm not much of an audio guy to start with, so grain of salt, but I couldn't tell much of a difference between the two. I think it's something nice to get if you can get them to throw that package in for a good price, or if it's what they have on the lot, but I wouldn't wait a month for it.

Yes, There is a sound difference for sure. I test drove a brand new 2017 Tacoma that had entune compared to my 2011 with JBL. My 2011 JBL sounded 100 times better than the stock speakers. If you're a music junkie and love to jam out. Either get the JBL or immediately replace the stock speakers.

The difference between my 2nd Gen radio an JBL is well worth a 3.5 week wait.

I'm a music junkie and love to jam out..... I really think the only issue with the stock system is it's not super loud...... It's plenty, but I have it cranked (~45-50) when doing my jamming. IMO, stock is actually just fine.

It's really your forte. I like bass and listen to a lot of different genre's that require a good low to make the sound actually worth while IMO. (My bass on JBL is set at 0). I usually have the windows down going 70 and I cant hear a thing other than my music. It's really up to you OP its your Rig make it your own.

I am not too crazy with stock, sounds pretty weak but the stock stereo has never been a strong point in the Tacoma

Standard good enough for me. I'm not cranking tunes all the time, but it does well enough for me when I do.

I did want to go JBL, but two main reasons I did not; Did not want to lose the storage behind the rear seats, and could not tolerate the low headroom with the moon roof equipped trucks. Two other things to definitely consider.

I would have bought the JBL but you cannot get it on Manual transmission.

A lot of stuff, just ask and I'd be happy to tell you. Or we could wheeling/camping
The Jbl is ok, I went to the dealership to hear it in a Tacoma before I got mine, I wasn't that impressed. That being said Jbl wasn't offered in mine only the "premium" audio. All that being said I still upgraded it.

Personally I wouldn't wait for Jbl

For less than $100 (cost of the Tweeters and a hole saw from Home Depot) and an hour of your time. You too can have directional Tweeters. :D

I personally think they made a mistake putting in a decent stock system in the first place. Its a good amount of thump out of the gate and if you know how to EQ properly I really don't the the JBL is even worth it.

Don't forget, you can always throw in your favorite speakers and possibly an amp down the road. I've been driving it for almost 2 years now and don't plan on upgrading the speakers anytime soon. (I say this as an audiophile and musician)

Thanks @The Taco Bear. This gives me some idea on what the JBL is offering..... more power, and definitely more bass. I just have the EQ set up with a little more bass and mids..... I listen to Metal, Blues, Rock, Country, and some Jazz. I don't go to heavy on the bass.

JBL is better than stock. If you don't want to wait, you can upgrade the audio system to OEM Audio Plus. It's worth the cost and it's better than JBL. That's what I did on my TRD PRO.
