Yup. Kind of sucks. It's like pulling teeth to get people to come by for parts mock up and I give the first ones away for free. Still struggle to get people...

You could always do what I see the dumbass high school kids doing (atleast around my city)..... Drive with your iPhone headphones in. Instead of actually listening to the vehice stereo.

Damn I hate those kids. Back in high school I had a 15 inch sub.

That is not correct, the rear door speakers are full size.

Here is a pic of all the JBL speakers from a '16 Tacoma.

The fronts are the 6x9s, the rears are the 5 inch speakers, and you see the 6 inch woofer removed from the enclosure and the 2 tweeters are in the dash.

    It appears so.

Apologies, but we're only talking about a 3rd gen truck in this thread. Why are people talking about 2nd gen JBL?

I've been talking about the 3rd Gen. I just referenced the 2nd gen pic. Either way it's the exact same speakers they used in the 2nd gen, just a different size rear. New amp, same sub.

Head unit is different as well, as well as cab insulation in 3rd Gen is different.

Not trying to argue, just saying it's not the exact same system on both generations, so we can't say they sound the same.

All car makers bundle things so you must buy what you don't want to get what you want. Increases profits.

You are so correct about the aftermarket stereo installation. Your truck will never be the same because they will muck something up.

Yup they are a bit different. Day the 3rd Gen was on the lot I went and drove one, listened to the stereo, both stock and JBL.

    Still flat.
    Still has no high range.
    Still not worth it.

Just got this one - it's a work in progress.....
I'm on my third Tacoma - have owned both JBL and no-JBL. My current truck is a 4x4 SR5 (no-JBL, obviously). Sound is more than decent. I was disappointed with the JBL in a past Tacoma. I also like the extra storage space for tools and what-not. Not worth it at all, in my opinion.

The JBL is only a 700.00 option

I respect all opinions, but it seems like the only folks bagging on the 2016 Tacoma JBL - don't actually own the truck with said system. Something to think about for the OP.:)

If only you could test drive a truck with and without JBL, what
a world that would be! :boink:

If your able to work out some deal with your dealership and the truck happens to have the JBL system installed... cool. Other wise the JBL system isn't worth not getting the rest of the truck you want.

You can install better speakers for less coin if you go aftermarket.

I don't need to own the truck to understand the stereo is not good.... I can sit down, tinker with it for 10 minutes and make that decision with any stereo system.

    I have. I had to choose between a p/t and a p/t with JBL.

The 600 bucks difference was well worth it to me.
