    This truck saw everything from desert to trails in Utah when he moved there with it. I’d say it’s one of the most used vehicles on here (now sold for a heep…) and the owner said it worked great for everything he put it through which he said trail guys were surprised to see how well it did. That said it really depends on if you’re going on general use 4x4 trails or actual rock crawling as your definition of putting it in the rocks. JD fab’s sua uses a 14” shock and a standard shackle so you don’t have to cut the bed and no shackle hanger to get caught while netting more than 17-18” of travel.

    That kit also uses the stock orientation shackle and low hanging hangar. Like others have said it depends on what your definition of rock crawling is. The low hanging hangar on actual rock trails always got me hung up and I bent them several times even after reinforcing them. After flipping the shackle to a “traditional” style it hasn’t been a problem. Not that I don’t drag the shackle or leafs, but neither of those have been a reason that I have gotten stuck or couldn’t get through an obstacle. Wheelbase and dragging the rear bumper have caused more issues like that. But haven’t crawled the truck since the back half and raising everything up some.
