A few years ago I managed obtaining awards like this for an automotive company. Each JDP award was over $100k and the company would buy several.

Maybe GM didn't bid a high enough number for this survey.

JD Power is correct!!! I have the Ranger after four Tacomas. It is a better truck in today's market. Yeah, Toyota is selling thousands of Tacomas ...People have not caught up with the lower reliability on the third gens and the various common issues. Mc Donalds sells a lot of crappy burgers too but people still eat them.

That said, I don't put a whole lot of attention to JD Power. I sure wouldn't post the results

Agreed, Gladiator is a truck I would actually want to own as it looks like Jeep put some thought into it. Ford was just plain cheap and lazy with the Ranger. No way in hell would I reward them with my hard earned dollars for that POS. Ford and JD Power can go pound sand.

Where's Mahk when we need him?

I participated in a JD survey a couple of months ago for my 18' Taco. The questions were not what I expected, if you listen to the commercials where they push quality and reliability reports you would think they would ask about the truck. Nope! All the questions are marketing based; where did you hear about the truck, how did the dealer contact you, the closest they got to the truck was how important the looks and image are in buying decision.

That survey is in regards to the dealership and sales process. They do another one later on for long term reliability. The dealership experience is for another award/market research, so companies know how they are performing at a dealer level.

The award in the original post was for "Most Popular" mid-sized truck, the only possible way the Ranger wins that is if it's a 2 way competition with a Ridgeline...

As far as I'm concerned Ranger already won versus 3rd Gen Tacoma. For me, it's the best midsize truck out there today. In 3 years or so when Toyota puts a 4cyl turbo in the Tacoma, I'll have another look at the Tacoma. I don't hate any truck in general. but I hated my 2016. The ranger came out at the perfect time for me. BTW The Ridgeline is not a bad vehicle for those who want an SUV with a bed.

Couple of things I like about the ranger, Fully boxed frame, steel bed, Steel front, and rear bumpers, there's more but why bore everyone? LOL

Yeah but they eat them because they're cheap as shit. In this example the Ranger is the McDonald's burger... and it would work, if the ranger was like half the price of a Tacoma.

But you barely save any $, if any at all, buying a Ranger. Which is why the market has spoken, for the same amount of $ people will take the Tacoma all day, because why would you take a Big Mac when you could get a Shake Shack burger for the same price? :)

Ford is begging fleet customers to pick these up to boost their #s throwing rebates and loyalty cash at them and even cheap ass fleet managers don't want to touch them lol, hell the 15 year old Frontier is outselling it

Thats gotta be embarrassing for Ford yikes.

As a fleet manager, I can't imagine any fleet buying a midsize truck. What is the market for midsize trucks in a fleet environment?

Full size, service Van's, economy cars, all have a place in a fleet but a midsize truck?

Guess I'm not as informed as I thought if midsize trucks have a purpose outside of mall crawlers or wannabe overlanders.

I could not care any less about JD Powers or really any other of their ilk. Bought my truck because I drove it and liked it. Always liked Toyota and finally was at a place in life where I could buy new. Had one issue with my rig (ABS module)and it was corrected by the dealer before I took delivery. 34,000 miles trouble free and I’d would buy it again today. Realistically there isn’t a bad vehicle on the road today with the tolerances on machining equipment and processes in place. Not to say nothing slips by because I know it does but the manufacturers don’t make money on warranty repairs so they are very motivated to put out a reliable product. I’ve driven a lot of miles since I could reach the pedals and my Tacoma does what I need it to do and makes me happy doing it. That’s about all the market research I need.

Well I paid more willingly for my Ranger than the 2016 Sport I dumped. In the second quarter Ford surpassed Nissan sales. Your credibility is taxed with your erroneous statements. Show me a link where Ford sells Rangers to fleet buyers? Or a link where Fiord is begging for fleet sales....You can't
