Man I hope y'all don't kill me. I had a 2017 Tacoma TRD ORD 4X4 and used it offroad once or twice a month on weekends. It had 46k miles 95% of which were highway miles. (I live in Clearwater FL and my sales area is Miami) I had nothing but issues. The engine power didn't bother me too much - but the transmission sihfts were terrible. I put it in drive once and it would just Rev, wouldn't drive. We ended up pushing the truck before it clunked into gear. The 4WD actuator went out. The transfer case went out. Then the torque converter started leaking. Most of that stuff did actually get covered under warranty - in fact I made a very complete post about my actuator experience. Even though it was pretty much all warrantied - the problems just kept coming. I ended up selling it and buying a 2013 Ford Raptor. My Tacoma was great when it worked but man didn't have problems... FTR my buddy has a 2019 Rangwr and his alternator went out at ~10k miles. Although I'm pretty sure he drowned it offroad....

Why is it so hard for you to accept...the oh so great Tacoma, is a uncomfortable, gutless, over weight turd. It has no torque, and gets terrible gas milege. The only thing It has going for it is it's reputation for reliability. With the new the engine we'll have hope they can keep it.

Ranger will go deep into the water. He probably had a one-off failure. The Ranger is designed for water as seen in this video. The front is designed to form a bow wave in deep water. Tacoma would be sucking water into the fender intake....

I have only seen a handful of new rangers in the wild around central washington, and each time I thought they were some European or Mexican on vacation with their car they brought with them until I got closer. The ranger is still kinda foreign looking to me lol. I have seen a couple Mexican amaroks before among other vehicles we don't get and I get a little excited until I realize its just a us spec ranger

I will start off and say that I really liked my 06 Tacoma. Was hit in 09 that totaled it. I replaced it with a full size half ton. Decided to go back to the smaller truck in 2016.

The Frontier has been good. Reminds me a lot of my 06 Tacoma. No major issues so far with the Nissan. Did have the radio replaced under warranty. Volume control on the head unit went bad. Mechanically it has been good. By todays standard it is old school tech. Only thing it has on it is the back up camera.

I purchased the Nissan because Toyota and GMC/Chevy were not negotiating. The 3gen were new and the dealers had no problem moving them. I still come on the Tacoma forums because I still like Tacoma's. Someday I may go back to Toyota. I realize Tacoma's hold their value. I tend to keep vehicles 8-10 years, so resale value is not much of an issue for me.

2006 taco was a good ride. That sucks it got totaled.

My buddy had 2006 i believe 4x4 frontier nismo 5 spd. Was awesome truck. Solid, quick and was pretty reliable. He did not have any issues. He ended up selling it and getting a tundy for work.

Good luck and hopefully you get a nice taco one day!

    Have u noticed..
JD Powers, Edmonds, Motor Trend, Consumer lies,,,etc almost always select the newest as the "best".

As a taco owner and one who once sold hundreds of them.... toyota has been slow to really update, 2020 is a good starter point to give audio electronic s owners have asked for, the driver seat fir 90 percentile has been miiserable on long runs so new electric controlled seat is 2000% upgrade.
Now go back to the 4.0 or give me and 8 speed.
Ford is breaking bad w new f150 electric, THAT sysytem may not be one buy but will be one to watch. Lets hope for industry its better than the failed auto transmission Ford Repaairs or Chevy gas hog tried ten years + ago.
Still got my grip on my taco!

JD Power is majority owned by GM. Chevy isn't currently pushing the midsize market, but making American brands seem superior is still in their best interest. In short, even if they posted my truck, I'd laugh because the whole magazine is a joke.

The Ecoboost in the 19 US Ranger has the alternator on the bottom of the engine. The Euro platform in the video has it on top of the engine - pretty sure it's not a one off failure. The alternator was submerged

As a former Ranger owner I have nothing bad to say about them, I’m sure it’s a decent truck but I just don’t believe the “most popular” tag line. I’ve only seen one (of the new ones) on the road so far and I live in SoCal. I probably see 20-30 Tacomas on my daily drive.

I think I've heard of them on like a Dyson ad too. Thought it was really strange that they do both whatever product it was and Chevy. I wonder if it's more like something you have to pay to be part of and Chevy is the only one paying to play. Can't loose if you are the only player.
