    One of the biggest subdivision companies here has been hit with a stop work order lol. They have been using non-compliant/government approved/etc windows in all their houses. Apparently the owner has thousands of them sitting in storage and he can't use them until he gets them throughly tested

    Rule #1 - you build to appeal to the general public not to yourself

    Well that was the problem here before the housing market crashed. Wanna be contractors building things that they had no business or know how to be building. Common problems here: jobsites getting shut down because half of the siding is up and there is no housewrap/vapor barrier. No boxes for ceiling or wall mounted electrical fixtures. 1/2" gyp on the garage walls.

    haha, what a tard.
    a couple years ago the boss man told me about a new house just outside of town that had to be knocked down because the floor system was never designed to handle the weight of the huge stone fireplace that was on the main level, there wasn't even footings under the teleposts. the contractor didn't pay any of the trades then skipped town, there was a dozen liens on the house.
