Not yet. It is ready to go though.

The buyer is making me nervous. His level of enthusiasm is a little disappointing. I have a guy in Virginia that really wants it. He's a Toyota guy, wants to get back in to wheeling.

We just got the most amazing application to adopt Bruce. I was all set to keep him until this. Sounds like a super nice guy that just had his Bully put down. He has been looking through tons of dogs and settled on Bruce. fenced in yard, by a lake in NH. they would give Brucie an amazing life.

I have some soul searching to do.

You mean you convinced Cindy to keep him?

Sounds like a great place... :pout:

Yeah. He's ours, just have to sign the papers.

    From the application:

If yes, please explain what happened to it: Spencer was an American Bulldog and a handsome one at that. He was a Craig's List dog, and has a long story but basically I got him at around a year old, severely malnourished he was a full sized frame but only around 30 pounds when he should have been so much more - probably 60 - everything I have done has been for him since that day I took him home. More than one person will tell you that to say he had a wonderful home would be an understatement.

To answer the question though ... we found out via x-rays that he had osteosarcoma and that it was very advanced. No one had any idea that he had it. Honestly we and our vet thought it was just that he landed funny or pulled a muscle and then when we saw the xrays we knew ... he hid his pain for what we think was a long time but now he is at peace.

I think he knew but I can never be sure. I honestly will never be able to definitively say the cause of what he did when he went to sleep but ... just as he felt it kicking in he looked up at me, right in the eye and kissed/licked me, set his head on my leg like he would when we sit on the couch, and let out a big sigh. He normally sighed we he was relaxed and happy etc when we would sit or lay together and that was it he just ... went to sleep in my arms. I had held it together until that point ... I have a hard time admitting it but I cried like a baby once I knew he wouldn't know I was upset. I have a hard time even now thinking about it. So yeah ... that is what happened to my buddy.

If your last dog died, please state the dog's name and date deceased: Spencer. He went to sleep on October 6th at around 11:34am surrounded by the ones who loved him.

How Active is your lifestyle aside from work? Please explain: Pretty active. I take walks and my girlfriend runs on a daily basis. Spence used to follow me on the trails nearby on foot and when I went on ATV rides.

Do all adults in the household work fulltime?: yes

How many hours each day will your new dog be alone?: Usually around three

How many hours each day will you spend time with your new dog?: basically every hour that I am home - night and day and weekends etc

Where will your new dog be kept when it is alone?: In the kitchen

Where will your new dog sleep?: Wherever he wants to :) probably with us in the bed - I know some dogs that sleep on the floor or next to the bed but he would be able to do whatever he wanted

What sort of training do you plan on providing your new dog?: Basic obedience and commands. I have only ever needed sit, stay, come, drop it, no, and a few others. I am a big fan of teaching "Go potty" which would be basically go outside and do your thing and be happy. If the dog likes to swim or likes water I would swim with them and use a life jacket anyhow to play in the water. We live at a private beach.

Why have you chosen to get an American Bulldog through Rescue?: I love bulldogs of all kinds and I found you via google. It seems like a great organization. I care about them so I appreciate like minded people.

Are you agreeable to having a home-check done prior to adoption?: yes

What would you do if you could not keep the dog?: I suppose I would look for another. I am a little picky to be honest. I picked Bruce out of over a thousand dogs I have seen pictures of. Based off his story, and his pictures, and especially that third picture of his adorable face ... He just sounds like the kind of dog I really want.

How far are you willing to drive to meet a potential adoptee?: [text-876]

Is there anything else you would like to add?: I hope that I can meet and adopt Bruce he looks adorable and looks like he could use a good home. He would have the best home and best care. If anyone needs me please feel free to contact me on my cell or via email and I can make myself available. I sincerely hope I pass this application process. I don't spoil dogs but I come close. None of my previous buddies have ever wanted fro anything. They have all lived full happy healthy lives until it was their time. I promise nothing but love and affection. I would love to see more pictures and meet Bruce.

    seriously.

I am all broke up over here.

Here is my issue. I love Bruce, he is a great dog. I really enjoy spending time with him, playing ball, walking around the 'hood. He is slightly ornery, he tends to counter surf a bit and runs off sometimes (not far and he is easy to catch), but all told very well behaved. Everyone that meets him adores him.

The guy in NH, just lost his dog, his companion, his friend. He would give Bruce and amazing life, and by that heal a bit.

That's a tough call no matter which way you go...
    :(

    I'd say sleep on it.

    Also - what's Cindy's take?

John, sounds like you can't go wrong whatever you decide. Going to be a tough decision. I had my beagle rescue up for adoption when I first got him, but when it came time to make a decision, I kept him. If you let him go, he'll have a good life, same thing if you keep him. Good luck.

sleeping on it is a good idea.

Cindy can take or leave Bruce. He was supposed to be a foster, so she was always prepared to let him go. She knows how much i love him and is OK with keeping him. Her only concerns were two dogs, twice the work and twice the bills.

    x2

    ^ this

twice the fun... they'd have a buddy and not be alone...

When I had the two fosters a couple of years ago... I loved them while I had them, but always knew they weren't "keepers", so I can understand Cindy's thoughts.

Gonna be a tough decision.... good luck

Either way sounds like Bruce will have a great home (even though he will have to ride in a jeep). It was hard to read through that application after reading the dogs name. My first dog was named Spencer. He was a boxer that was the runt of the litter. We had to have him put down at the age of 18 months due to bad kidneys. Even though we had him a short time, he was a huge part of our life. After reading what the applicant has gone through I think Bruce would have a great home with him.
