The local union school is a far superior outfit but its impossible to get into the union let alone an apprenticeship with them right now.

Some of the bigger schools offer a one day a week system for the in class portion but you have to go 50 weeks a year for it lol.

I think our employment benefits pay 60% of your average salary over your last 6 pay periods

    Good guess.

    *takes bite*

    mmmmmm Tomatoes

Only problem is some shops just use them for cheap labor on big jobs and they never learn anything. They can have a guy doing the same task for a year or more. At my old shop we are only allowed 2 apprentices and we send them out with our best guys on service calls so they learn everything and how to fix it. Our goal is to use them for cheap labor while teaching them so when they get older we have well rounded guys. Other shops could care les and as soon as they turn journeymen they get fired.

Lol we are given a range for hours we require so we can write the licensing exam. It's 3450 - 7400 hrs. The apprenticeship lady was giving me a hard time about having enough hours so I asked what happens if I have too many hours and she just looked at me funny. I have well over 9000 hrs lol

 I haz no shame lol j.k

Sooo...here's an update on the housing situation. Spoke to an investor recommended by a cute female Sergeant that I work with. She also put in a good word for me as well according to the Investor. He said he's in the process of buying a little 1300 square foot 3 bedroom 2 bath, not too far from where I'm at now. But it won't be ready until like Mar 1st or so. Hope to be outta here before the 5th of that month or I'm stuck paying another month's rent and utilities.
