Had a great Friday. Talked to one of the kitchen contractors. The gutting of the existing kitchen starts on February 2nd. The cabinets will be delivered on February 12th. Time to start to pack up the kitchen and get ready for the project.

Good morning Ken. Lots to do today. Need to finish a second cup of coffee then off to the gym. Going to make a crock pot tortilla soup today.

Good morning Rob. I love Saturdays. Have some reading to do for a class next Tuesday. Going to my sisters on Monday to replace an electrical switch. Going to try and get 25MPG out of the Tacoma on the mini road trip. Very hard to do with the gearing in a truck. I can get 24.5 with little effort so I think 25 is possible.

You know Rob the older I get the less of a hurry I am in when I drive. Our capitol beltway sometimes makes me drive faster than I want so I try to avoid driving on the beltway when I can. I think staying out of rush hour traffic helps keep my speed down as well.

I'm discovering the same thing. There's no need to hurry. That extra 10 MPH on speedo rarely makes much more than a 5 min difference in the long run.

EDIT: I love running errands around the valley where we live, during the day not much traffic, just the truck, Bear, and I taking our time. ;)

Especially when the car you passed 5 minutes ago is the car behind you at the exit ramp waiting for the light to change. ;)

Driving for the dealer, I travel different roads and run into different types of drivers. On interstates and turnpikes, I set the cruise at about 3 to 5 mph over the limit and get a royal case of the ass when some gerbroni passes you then pulls in front of you and slows down to below the speed limit. Then when you pull out to pass them, they speed up :annoyed:. That's about my biggest complaint. There are many others but..too early to  Most of the time I do the speed limit and have gotten the finger wave from some people but I just smile back :D...

Lisa, great choice on the 4Runner. We have a 2002, 260,000 miles on it and going strong. Needs an exhaust system at the moment, it still has the factory one!

Dave that is nice to know. Do you do maintenance at the proper intervals? I have not checked into other Toyota engines other than the 2.7L. I hear there are timing belt/chain issues on the 5 cyl engines at 60K or it might be 90K that the belt/chain is recommended to be replaced.

So far on my Tacoma I had one wheel bearing that had to be replaced around 72K which I thought was too soon in the parts life span. The other 3 are ok so I think I may have had a defective bearing installed at the factory.

It has been serviced fairly regularly, Tom. It's got the 3.4 V-6. It has had the timing belt replaced, as well as a water pump and radiator. It's on it's third set of tires. I think we had the brakes done a while back. Other than that, no issues. I keep asking Jodi when she is going to replace it. She's not interested, it runs great and she really likes it. It was her first new car ever.

    thanks!
a pink moose sticker will be the first mod. homergrill will be the second  assuming homie cooperates

sounds like things are moving right along. better make sure the bbq and microwave are in tip top shape. only way to survive a kitchen remodel
i'll have a few mpg challenges myself here soon. i hope the new rig is about the same as Toy
i'm already to that point...does that mean i'm old too? :(
where can you hurry to at 55? the speed limits drove me crazy up there but i know they had their reasons for keeping them low.
thanks OTG. I'll be sad to give up Toy but he's not going too far so its OK. this one only had 51k on it, hope i have as much luck with it as i have with Toy
hmmm....interesting. whats the trade in value on my current model? :D
