X2 on the porcelain tile. We are installing it for the flooring in the new kitchen, laundry room, and powder room. All three rooms have water and did not want to do wood. That is one reason the other would be too much wood in the kitchen. When you look at the floor and cabinets the wood just made it seem to be too much. I like the contrast tile will give us in the kitchen.

Hey Susan. I'm running on a 6 1/2 day weekend right now. I would say it was great, but part of it was with a "sick" kid. I am so happy we go in for his initial tubes appointment this Thursday..

Constant ear infections are not fun. But this last one we are going with his teeth were causing it. I didn't take him in... just let it run it's course. I have 110 days of leave once Oct 1st hits (we were allowed to carry 75 over the past 8 years, plus the 30 for this year.)... so I might as well use some for this. We are going back to 60 days at the end of the fiscal year, so I need to use 40 more before then.

With dogs, do NOT go with prefinished wood. They will destroy it in a few months.

If that is the direction you want to go, look into a penetrating oil finish. It uses the hardness of the wood to add to the hardness of the finish.
