So I think Ford is trying to act like they created "Methanol injection" for the diesel engine.

this is basically the same thing right? maybe just the first to offer it on the vehicle from factory.

 

I'm pretty sure turbo'd rally cars use Methanol Injection to control detonation...

Ford (and others) are injecting amonia and water into the exhaust stream. BMW and Mercedes have done it for a few years now. I do believe that Ford is the first in the heavy truck segment to offer this in the US.

The methanol/water injection used on turbo cars, injects the mixture directly into the combustion chamber to cool it and allow higher compression ratios or more boost without detonation.

 

My advice would be to pay someone for the install. They know what they are doing and will usuallly warranty the install and equipment. For instance, my auto start, if I EVER have an issue with it, they will replace it for free.

 

Get the remote start, well worth it. I don't think that the keyed chip is an issue.

I know what you mean about the wiring, but it is what they do, if you have good shop handle it.

 

X2 on the Viper. I have a 5701 in my Tacoma and it works very well.

Two bad things about it. The remote case is pretty fragile and the 2 way goes through batteries every 4 months.

I had it installed at cough cough, Best Buy, cough cough but they did an outstanding job. Did not butcher the Tacoma wiring too bad.
