    So far so good on the NAS install. The program is testing the read write functionality of both drives. This takes close to 20 hours or so I have read.

    Real easy to assemble and bring up on line. Here are a few pics of the drive bay install.

    It is not NOS. LOL

    NAS stands for Network Attached Storage. This server will have the ability to back all three of the home PC's, on the network, automatically. There will also be a second back up in the box. Essentially the files, all types, will be in 3 places in case of a failure. I also plan an off site storage solution as well on a DVD medium. My wife is a teacher so this is critical to store her lessons. Not to mention family photos.

    In addition we will be able to access files on any of the 3 PC's from any of the other PC's. I should also be able to access the NAS via the internet. This will make sending and accessing picture files pretty easy when we are on vacation.

    Total cost for this is right around $400. Really cheap insurance for my wife not to have to reconstruct lesson plans in a disaster.

    One last benny is it will free up a 500mb WD passport drive to be used for off loading pictures when we are away from home.
