    It's chirping... hard wired, no battery and no fire....

    Hmmmmm :notsure: Maybe hit the test button and see if it resets it. Hard to say without actually looking at it. You sure it doesn't have a backup battery in it that might have died?

    Hi, Susan. Double-check the battery deal...mine are hardwired, but they also have 9v batteries for backup during power outages. In fact, mine continued to chirp after I unplugged it from the hard wire and took out the battery! It must have a capacitor or whatever the heck...I had to stuff it under a pillow until I could go get a 9v.

    As a process engineer, I suggested the safest way to do it, then she could just get a canary to test air for smoke n gas....
