That's foolish. It is a common misconception that Macs don't get viruses or spyware. They are just more rare. Not running protection is setting yourself up for the rare virus that can target your system. Especially in the age of Macs and Windows boxes running the same processors.

I has been my experience that Apple builds their machines using much higher quality hardware. I have spec's them both out and to get a windows box with roughly the same quality equipment the cost difference is marginal.

That being said, I am typing on a $600 Dell right now (work computer). The old Powerbook is getting a bit slow and won't run Flas apps very well, so it is relegated to iPhoto use for the most part. I also can't justify the $2500 replacement cost for a comparable new model.

Oh, Chris, processor speed and specs really don't mean much when it comes to cross platform comparisons.

I only stopped Norton cos of air card issue... And thank you for explaining to him platform differences. Because when you compare Winders to Apple - It's like comparing Apples to Oranges. And like you said - price difference isn't really that much. Kinda comes down to preference, really.

Since you stole one of my med bags, maybe you can help with my rage.

 

That is a ridiculous statement, considering that they use the same processors.

Use real world testing and performance benchmarks. At the end of the day though, it really comes down to which you prefer. I love my Mac, the OS has given me far fewer problems than any version of windows that i have ever used, but it does have it's drawbacks. The older ones won't run Flash and it is harder to find some software titles (sometime impossible). The customer service is way better should you need it ( I have actually spoken to Americans ).

Ironically, my buddy had his PC fail a while ago, lost all his Itunes songs and movies. He could redownload songs but it wouldn't let him access his movies from his account, so he called em up, explained what happened, and they gave him access to everything, he said it took 10 minutes. I was impressed thats for sure
