it was a legitimate concern

 

sometimes when a breaker trips the handle stays in the on position. to reset the breaker move the handle to the off position then back to on. you should have 120V from hot (the vertical slots) to neutral (L shaped) and ground (round hole), and 240V from hot to hot.

Yes, I know it's a funky plug. I've got one now. Yup, 30 amp cb

cord wasn't hooked up to anything when it sparked. I was just making sure I had the right cord before I installed it. I like my electricity to come on when I flip the switch.

Re-set the cb several times and still no worky. Tested it and am only getting 110 volts. The two hot sides together gives me nothing. Just the one hot with the "L" shaped plug gives me 110.

when I reset the cb, it clicked, but it was a very soft click, not the "click" i got when I flipped one of the others. Does that mean the cb is bad?

Flipped it several times. I have 120 from one flat slot to the "L" hole and nothing anywhere else

No, I didn't blow the dryer up.... went to get a volt tester and new cord.... but I gotz no juice, or not enough at the plug...

 

OK. either you have a bad circuit breaker/ bad wiring/ or the plug itself. My plug was burned out when i got my house and only had 110 on one side.
Had to rewire the circuit and install a new plug.....
going to have to dig deeper. It's possible you lost your CB with it not sounding good or pretty stiff to switch

 

Did you have to run new wires or just replace the plug and circuit breaker?

 

I'd check the breaker to make sure it's still good. take the panel cover off, meter across the dryer breaker (while it's on), you should get ~240V if it's still good.

I have had more that 1 go bad on me and my panel was upgraded about 20 years ago.

My house was built in 1964 and wired for that time period. Todays homes need less outlets on a CB due to the loads we place on the circuits. I have had to add wiring to different areas of the house over the years to suport modern electronics.

The good thing is I still have 9 CB slots left on the panel so I still have room to grow.

Actually pretty funny. There were a lot of dialog and visual jokes. We laughed a lot during the movie. We saw TinTin.

The theater was not packed at all so it was a lot more enjoyable. I bet the next showing was packed.
