I've seen a jeep liberty running around with one of these and i know it's a factory option for them, but i like the clean look they have so i jumped on ebay and bought one for my taco? the picture with the ad showed it actually mounted on one so what do you guys think? i'm already thinking of adding another light on each side to fill it out a little more but i wont know for sure until i have it.

Here it is on my truck... This is just copied from my build thread so sorry if some of it doesn't make sense on here (too lazy to redo it for this thread lol)

Finally got my lightbar in the mail!!![IMG] I snagged 'em off ebay for 70$ plus another 4 i bought for another 70$
    [IMG]

Got everything installed and its oh so easy to do. The light bar is made of molded plastic with the lights bolted on and comes complete with a wiring harness and everything you need to install it basically. It uses 3m adhesive to attach to the roof, and lemme tell ya, it sticks! i can pull on it all day and it'll rock the truck before it gives (it hasn't). It does fine on the road, and i'm pretty sure i'll be using a razor if I ever want to take it off.

(can you kinda see the gaps where there was no adhesive?)

Sadly, the major downfall is that you can't adjust your lights without cutting an access hole somewhere once it's mounted, so i had to be double sure they were where i wanted them. there is also a small gap between the roof and the light bar in a couple spots (for some reason they didn't want to run the adhesive the whole way across) and theres a good sized gap in the back since the back of the bar is flat and the cab is curved... I'll have to seal it all up with some silicone soon. Also It only came with four lights, and it looked too narrow for the pickup so i went to o'reillys and bought a cheap set that i mounted on the sides to make six. looks alot better that way. I also bought a couple smaller ones to mount for bed lights someday. I haven't got around to it yet since ill be on vacation in washington tomorrow through the 7th.

    but anyways, here they are!
I made the side lights point off to the side a little since the original 4 are pretty much set straight and can only really move up and down.

that's why i'm thinking of adding a light on each side? maybe that would make it a little wider. I kinda feel like a pioneer for this whole thing:cool:

That's what it looked like. I think it might be flexible to sorta mold to your roof. Not sure though. Taco isn't on the compatability list but the pictures show it mounted on one lol. I can always be creative...
    Heres the pic btw.

had to quote this cause its awesome i like it great idea. i have a question about the light bar can the lights be taken apart maybe to retrofit some vision-x leds or rigid leds? i might have to pick one up and mess around with it.

I never tried to take one apart but it looks to me like they the lenses just snap on and off. They must come apart somehow but theres no screws or bolts except on the mount.

there would need to be some way to access the bulbs in order to replace them if you can get the lens off a retrofit is possible :)

4 vision-x solstice prime round leds would slot in there nicely that would be awesome it would add around 450 dollars to the cost of the light bar but, it would be 10 times brighter lol

if you ever get around to it i would be neat to see if the lights themselves could come apart thats all. truth be told we are in the process of building a house and buying land so i can't afford anything right now lol

how are they mounted to the roof? epoxy? 3M tape or bolted?they look pretty slick its an inexpensive way to get lights with out the roll bar or headache rack especially for those canopy guys out there.

Down through the weather stipping on the passenger door since thats the way they were designed for. Dunno why though, i would've preferred driver's side. I'll get more detailed pics as soon as i get back to my truck next week.

Heres some more pictures of my lights. I'm hoping this will help clarify for everybody. As you can see the fit is not perfect. I need to wash my truck and then let it dry good so i can silicone around the whole thing and hopfully keep it from ruining my roof underneath.

All of my relays and fuses are stuffed underneath the gray cover that pops off on the side. From there i ran a main power wire through the fender where the intake goes and to the battery. all of my switch wires i ran to the other side along the firewall and since the switches are grounded i just did that on any metal i could find in the dash.

Everything works great! Its budget lighting, but for something i might use once a month i didn't want to drop a shitload of money. It works for me.

Heres the switches. I know, i did a shitty job on the blue one. That was a previous project for my brushguard lights and i did it like a noob. I'm not a real big fan of the switch provided for the light bar since it didn't come with a way to mount it. I'll just use velcro buttons on that.

Why not just leave the 4 lights that came on the bar? I think it looks much cleaner with just the four instead of with the extra 2 thrown up there

It would look funny with just four because it wouldnt be wide enough plus the 2 on the side point down and out to the sides...that helps alot

if it was wider it wouldnt be too bad...id say just get an actual light bar that mounts the the roof and get lights that you can adjust where you want them to shine. i might be wrong but they look stationary
