Sure, believe that if you want. I'm thinking there is some skewed data there.

yeah i gonna have to say bullshit, have you looked at the price of a nice condition 1st gens or 2nd gens compared to jeeps of similar years, its not even close i would say.

I’m the first to admit the TFL guys are industry shills that generally hate Tacoma, but they do quote a study that came to these conclusions.

    Is there a competing list?

I don't know if you could really put together a list that truly compares them as similars, short of comparing actual precentage of resale compared to price paid new. And i still highly doubt jeep would win that one. The hard part is jeeps come in like 400 different configurations per model and tacomas come in very few by comparison.

They are like an oozing sore I can’t stop picking at. I feel drawn to them because I know they hate the Tacoma.

I thought the Wrangler comes in Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon 2 and 4 doors with occasional special editions? Tacoma has SR, SR5, Sport, OR, Limited, and Pro, some are available in Access Cabs, Double Cabs, 2 wheel drive, 4 wheel drive, manual and automatic so there are quite a few Tacoma configurations.

The “Maserati Quattovavole” is a most exciting sounding name for a car, but every Maserati looks like a Chinese knock-off of a Ford Probe to me. I can’t understand the appeal. I question that they are actually built in Italy, because they are so totally bland to look at.

    no thanks.

Maybe Jeeps hold great resale value because so many parts are brand new, even on used ones. Ya know, part breaks and you replace it. Repeat constantly the entire time you own a Jeep. BMW? Toss in the trash can as soon as your warranty runs out.

I don’t think they hate Tacoma. I think they agree with some users here that the powertrain sucks. Other than that I feel like they think it’s pretty solid and best in the segment. I think they, like some of us, feel this truck is capable of more.

Driving one... they can be a fun car. Quick and fun but the best thing going for them is the exhaust sound. The sound is so sexy in sport mode when getting on it, similar to what one would want from Ferrari sounds imo. Take out that sound, and an optioned out Camry would be plenty similar. :D

But, are they worth what the sticker price is, hell no. If I had to put an msrp on one, I'd knock $30k off without a doubt and that's still leaving room for reasonable cost of the badge tax. I refer to it as the Fiat...which it is. It's not the quattro, but a new top of the line Ghibli, but same shit.

But on the same token, plenty of people willingly spend $60k and even more on a Gladiator because it's a Jeep truck. They look cool once you dump $20k in mods but...that's crazy money. Plenty of people who want to buy them second hand keeps prices high. You can find out of warranty $70k+ BMW/Mercedes/Maserati etc all day for cheap since nobody wants to take the risk of very expensive parts breaking. Add the fact that stuff isn't built to last and that's going to continually get worse.
