i want to put new seats in my tacoma. i know all the existing options including corbeau and 4 runner seats.
the 4 runner seats are kinda hard to find and are 20 years old.
the corbreau brackets look nice but the seats are known to break down kinda quick. the corbeau brackets however are designed to take any jeep pattern seat. since I learned that I've been looking at stock jeep seats wondering "what if?"
some of the leather jk seats look especially nice. and there should theoretically be more wrecked jeeps than 20 year old 4 runners. so what do y'all think? would they fit? be comfortable? last?

Careful putting Chrysler parts in your Taco. It may suddenly feel the need to start breaking more and require more frequent trips to the stealership.

Kidding aside, I would think anythings possible with enough :welder: and:sawzall:.

with the corbeau brackets it should be a bolt in affair. while i can fab, i don't really want to or trust my life to my welding ability.

OME suspension, SPC upper control arms, grey wire mod, 12v accessory plug always on.
I just put in corbeu seats. The welds on the brackets are nothing to write home about. Not pretty but functional. Was disappointed on the overall fit. The seatbelts attachment point rubs on the seat when it is slid back. Best part of the bracket is all the angles are done and while it did bolt up I did have to bend it a bit to get it to line up.

Jeep seats?! I think that’ll get you arrested in some parts of Tacomaworld...

As others have said they’ll more than likely fit with some cutting and welding.

I never thought about swapping my seats out. But... the driver seat is showing some signs of wear after my not-so slender ass has been getting into/out of for 16 years. The side plastic piece is shot- has been for years. Man... if I could get the seats out of the 1990 Forunner I had, I'd be in heaven. Those were, hands down, the most comfortable seats my ass has ever had the pleasure of sitting in.

Using any but Toyota seats get the proper anti rejection drugs or the truck may purge them as you drive down the road not a good thing.

The drugs need to be maintained to the foreign parts are removed.

I found some 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee seats. I do not have them in but the measurements will fit in the cab. Just need to fabricate the seat rails.

Jeep seats are so comfortable because they spend a lot of time "sitting" there waiting for a Toyota to pull them out ;)

because my tacoma seats have never been comfortable and they're falling apart. and because corbeau seat brackets take any jeep pattern seat.

the Toyota fanboiness is a little ridiculous in here. people put seats from all kinds of other vehicles/makes etc in their Toyota's. it seems to only be because i said jeep. there's some sort of cultural nerve I've hit. well besides my tacoma i own a 2000 landcruiser a 67 landcruiser and a 73 jeep. they're all great. but the seats in the taco suck.

Have you looked into Mastercraft seats? One of my buddies runs Twisted Stitch, but they're no longer in production.

    Budget?

i was ready to put 1000k into the seats. wanted a durable seat that looked somewhat stock. there was a reason i was going to pass on Mastercraft. some safety concern. i thought about PRP but the reclineable seats were pretty expensive. i want to retain the ability to put passengers in the back.

What kind of safety concerns on the Mastercraft? Asking for a friend...

Have you considered Lexus seats out of an IS250/350? Those are pretty nice.

im open to any seats really. just want something with a clean install that doesn't require too much modification.

i had read that Mastercraft seats had taken a dive in quality and one guy had a story of both his seats reclining mechanism failing at same time when he was rockcrawling and fell backwards off an obstacle. if he was rearended in an actual accident he could have been seriously injured if the seats failed that way.

My favorite of all seats I have sat in are the Audi S4 seats from 2003 or so recaro.

If only I could find a way to get those to fit.
