Alex, @T4C0CH40S @mh.meier and I were discussing a weekend camp/megawheeling trip to the box canyon area here pretty soon. I've been itching to run Jack Handle again. And the Coke Ovens (minus going to the ovens themselves).

Dropped the tranny pan and there were metal jusnks of the bearings all through it and chunks of the clutch packs out of the TC all in the oil.

Damn. What were the symptoms up to that point? Any high pitched chirp/rattle sounds? Consistent with rotation? Specifically coming from the Bell Housing?

It started slipping and a high pitch whine. If are really curious what the inside looks like drain the pan and un bolt it and look at the fluid.

Worse case you replace the in pan filter and the gasket and refill the oil. The fluid is the most expensive part of that operation. Until you need new parts. I upgraded Tranny and TC cost me $5000 for both brand new with upgraded valve body.

Oh believe me I know its expensive. Replaced mine with Amsoil when I installed my valve body upgrade.

Ive been looking for upgraded TC's.. Im confident in the tranny itself.. John at IPT said pretty firmly that the valve body wouldn't be the cause..

My flexplate was fine as well, but I swapped in the new one anyways.

It HAS been driving me crazy. I've been hunting it down for a while now. Hoping it's the bearings going out in mine.. That way a replacement TC solves the problem.

Yeah I remember reading all the mixed reviews of Level 10 when doing my valve body research. Ended up scoring an amazing deal on an IPT one.. locally even.

I didn't know they made torque converters though. Good to know. Im really interested in what you think about yours. I might just save up some more and go that route as well.

I looooooooove mine! But I got tranny and torque convertor at the same time from them. My truck is an auto and NOT s/c and holding in 2nd gear and then hitting 3rd would chirp the tires which never happened before. Way more response and felt great shifting.

The torque converter? Damn.. Would of been nice to know if the torque converter alone was an improvement..

What valve body do you have? Mine definitely chirps as well.. Especially from 1st to 2nd.. It's stupid aggressive. Lol

    Dammit. Lol

Well I am going to be waiting with high hopes on your input about it all after you get some seat time.

In the meantime ill probably send level 10 an email and explaining the situation and see what they come up with.

Thanks for all the info man. Much appreciated

With regards to running Elvis again we should come up with a good trail after and head back towards Coke Ovens. I love driving through those trees and the river crossing after the Ovens. I will also have to renew my state trust permit.
It will be different to run that trail with a locker for once.

I'm not sure you want this type of trail with what little seat time you have in 4x4. This is crawling through and over rock and waterfalls in a dry wash. Carnage is a definite possibility.
