Damn dead as hell in here cause werk... taking over my damn life. Ugh.

 

Getting ready for our busy season! Will you have to work more hours than you already are?

 

I'm already doing five 11 to 12 hour shifts so I hope not. I'm too old for this we're still trying to clean up the store from all the hell we've been through the past year so it's been rough. How about you?

 

We are always crazy busy. When I first started working there nine years ago, we would have a slow time during January. We no longer have any slow times. We have higher volume than we’ve ever had, carryover almost daily, and we’re understaffed. We are onboarding a lot of new associates each week. Not many make it so it’s a vicious cycle… I’m not enjoying my new position as much as I enjoyed order filling. I would love to go back but it would be foolish of me with my shoulder. I can go in for overtime and orderfill for a couple of hours which would be fine and give me my orderfilling fix but I shouldn’t do it full time. It’s just that after all of those years of getting up for work at 2:30am I don’t really want to do that again. I don’t have to get up now until 4:45 AM. Plus..When I orderfill, I’m a sweaty hot mess and my hair is all over the place…wouldn’t be a good look being the classroom teacher. Lol

 

Classroom? What did I miss? Uppity heave an academy? We're at 85% staffed last I heard and not many make it there either. They start out way to high paid for not wanting to work in my opinion. If they came in and busted there ass then awesome but most come in and don't do anything but create more work for the few good ones. We don't have slow times ever either. We always get way more freight than we need and spend most of our time shoveling it all over or sifting through it trying to find what will go out. Definitely crazy nowadays, not sure I can do this for 20 more years. I feel like my body won't hold up much longer, especially working 5 to 5 or later. I'm glad you're somewhere easier on your body. That's where I was and I was miserable so now I'm out of apparel and back in grocery/ consumables as of last week and it's kicking my ass!! I'm out of shape for sure! Hopefully things will ease up at some point but I'm not holding my breathe on it.
