    I'm no tree hugger, but I think the way the Mennonites farm is best.
    It's like I remember from growing up on a dairy farm.
    They don't use much chemicals and seem to manage just fine.
    And you should see the butterflies and honeybees on their fields. Which I suspect is indicative.

    I dislike factory farms...hog farms in particular, but turkey and chicken as well.
    The waste can be a problem...and has been in some areas with a lot of hog farms.

    I'm aware, however, that small mixed family farming is not competitive in many places, unlike here.

    Yup, I have always wished that I would have been born Amish. We have a large Amish community just north of here. We used to go there and get plow shares sharpened and repointed at the blacksmiths shop. I could so live like that!

    I know a fair number of Mennonites.
    I shoot their groundhogs in the Summer and they let me hunt in the Autumn.
    They're A-Okay in my book. Down home, great sense of humor. :cool:

    I had a friend in High School who married a Mennonite gal.
    Though I doubt he'd tell me about the shaving thing. :rolleyes:
    Haven't been in contact for quite a while anyway.

    Dean must have ways of knowing he ain't telling us.
    Maybe he married one too? :confused:
