Jerky acceleration under half to wide open throttle.

2021 Limited accelerates and shifts smooth under normal acceleration, but gets jerky and irradic under half to full throttle. Feels like nothing is in time. First Tacomma and wondering if this is normal. Have a 2016 Highlander that runs smooth under any acceleration.

 

No problem anywhere with my 2020 sr5. More you step on the skinny petal the smoother, and faster it will go. Power delivery is very linear.

 

I have the same issue when cruising on low rpms. Feels like something is just choking the truck a bit if you gently accelerate, but once you hit the pedal harder it goes just fine.
I think it's just a Taco thing. I'm wondering if tune will resolve this.

 

Axle wrap might be a cause.

Axle wrap occurs when the rear of the vehicle is able to accelerate faster than the front of the vehicle. The rear axle compresses against the leaf springs, rotates, then snaps back, forcing a “hop.” This can happen off road in sand or snow at slow speeds or on pavement under hard acceleration.

Your front alignment may be off, causing your front wheels to drag too much and contributing to a mismatch of forces between front and rear axles during hard acceleration.

Stiffening up the rear leaf springs can also help. Traction bars are what performance cars use. FWIW, I noticed mine got better after switching to Rago hangars.
