Yeah, there aren’t many Auburn guys around here. Haha. Either that or everyone else is just louder.

For a standard CMC, I’ll do it for $100 if you provide the plates for me to weld on. I normally use the ones from relentless fab. Those seem to work the best.

 

Finally got around to a U bolt flip on my truck. Ordered my flip plates and u bolts from ruffstuff. These are 5/8” u bolts so they’re more than strong enough. This is also the first step towards my Chevy leaf spring swap in the future.

The bump stops are generic Chevy bumps I bought from Advance Auto, nothing special. My dream is to replace it with some bump cans in the future, but we will see.

Definitely. Those Dakar packs are thick. Don't want to cut the u bolts too short before you get your Dakars. Main reason I did it now is because my stock U bolts were too short once I installed my axle shims so I just decided to go with the flip kit.

 

What’s the purpose of the axle shims?

 

Mine are 2 degree shims. It corrects for drive line angles that are induced by lifting your truck. The size is dependent on your particular application.

 

Successful Cab Mount Chop and exhaust chop for @R4MBLN_YOTA this weekend. Still working on getting my welds looking as good when being contorted as when I’m working off of the table. Just takes practice.

 

Finished up two more sets of sliders this weekend. Both sets have a rear kickout. One set is flat and the other set at an angle. Both 100% bolt on, no drilling required.

 

Not automotive related at all but I build other stuff too. Just finished up these security bars for a very vulnerable window at my folk’s house. I’ll get a picture of them mounted once I can get over there. Not fun to look at but are very functional.

 

Last night had the pleasure of working on a tube bumper with my buddy on his old Pathfinder. Got all the bending done and tacked up for him. He’ll be completing it with a couple other support tubes and plate work at his house along with finish welding it with his TIG machine.

 

looking good. question. why do you angle the sliders from the mounts instead of from the square to the outers? Is it beneficial to have square angled instead of flat for easier sliding or is it just easier to angle the mounts instead of from the square to the outers?

 

It’s mostly due to tooling. I can cut precise angles the way I do it with my bandsaw. Angling the outers like you said would require a compound cut with multiple angles coming in to play at once. It’s much more difficult to replicate.

 

One more set of sliders on the road! Made these with a kickout with upward angle, completely bolt on! Thanks @InfernoChalupa they look awesome on your truck!

 

Finished bumper with winch installed on a Nissan Pathfinder. I did all the bending and cutting and the tacking of pieces together. My buddy who owns the truck finished it out and painted it. Was definitely a team effort and just a good excuse to try some stuff out with the tube bender.

Thanks! He painted the bumper using duplicolor wheel paint. The finish looks awesome up close too. I may consider painting armor a different color in the future because of this. But he's got some bronze wheels to match as well.

 

I have always loved black, but will agree it is over-done....since everyone does black nowadays lol. I like to see different stuff sometimes. Always wondered what a gunmetal type color would look like on my truck.

 

Idk, strip all the paint of your armor and try it out. Lol. I'm tempted to rebuild my front skid plate at some point. I may try some weird color just because I can.

 

Lol mine all need to be removed and touched up at some point anyways. Think I might just go back with the spray can bedliner stuff like my bedrack is painted with. I love that stuff.
