Nice build. Clever way with the baffles. I zip tied a piece of waffle foam over the entire thing, not as clean.

Thanks! I still need to test the Db reduction at some point but I’m happy with the results.

Well I finally got around to re-measuring my lift after 18k miles and boy was I surprised and disappointed. I knew my front end was sitting a little low but jeez!

*Measurements from ground to bottom of fender flare through center of hub.

Looks like I’ll be adding some small spacers since I don’t have an appetite for coilovers.

Isn't that stuff "Closed cell foam"? I have a piece of air conditioner seal that looks like that, in my basement, that I bought years ago, and no longer have the packaging for (naturally). I cut a 1.5" cube off it strip and tried to blow air through it. No air would pass through it. Maybe yours is made from a different material.

Definitely open cell foam. Closed cell foam is like a sleeping mat for camping, yoga mat, or heat pad for a pool. Open cell foam is typically much softer/more squishy, has the ability to “hold” liquid, and of course allows air to pass. Given the fact that this foam is so thick, you’ll be hard pressed to feel the air coming through as you blow but it’s not because the air is being stopped. It’s mostly because the air is being diverted 100 different ways. There is resistance with thicker foam, but in my experience this has zero impact on the function of the vents.

I actually started with really thin open cell foam as pictured below as a proof of concept. This 3/16” foam made a difference but was very mild and didn’t allow for the more finished look I wanted.

No mods here, just my truck in it’s natural habitat, helping my friend finish the groundwork for his new shooting range. Also got to “Hoon” around a little bit before we threw down some grass seed.

What rail is that? That clamp sure looks like a rip off of BCM's mounting system. I like your taste in mags though

Haha thanks, I use Lancers for 300BLK to prevent mixing up mags (PMAGs for .223).

But good eye. The rail is a discontinued model that was licensed to use the KMR mounting interface. It was a clearance deal from Weapons Outfitters for under $100 so I couldn’t pass it up.

Guess that explains why I've never seen that rail before! Now you need a can on that little guy!

This one is meant to run without a can hence the tucked flash can. This one, my HB clone has a can :)
I want to get the new DA Wolfman so bad but trying to be financially smart with a kid on the way.

Just placed my order for OVTune's new tablet based tuner :bananadance::bananadance:
    OVTuneTablet.jpg
    https://www.ovtuned.com/collections...9-tacoma-3-5l-openflash-tablet-handheld-tuner

I absolutely hate the lack of performance this truck has. I realize it's a truck, not a sports car, but I know this engine can do a lot better. The trans just kills the performance as it's always trying to get to 1200rpm where of course the engine makes no power. This maximizes MPG's, but I bought a truck, idc about MPG's. Toyota just killed the drivability of the truck for the sake of MPG's.

Also, I will 100% be buying their Twin Turbo kit once it's released, I think I'm number 7 or 8 on the unofficial list, and the tune is required, not included, for the TT kit. Raptor level power + mid-sized truck = winning :D:thumbsup:

Haha! Funny you mention this though, because I was just thinking yesterday that I need to finally do a dB test.

But yes actually, I have plenty. PM inbound

At my best friends bachelor party a month ago, his brother decided to get his little CRV stuck in a ditch at 2am. He woke me up to come drag him out because I had the only truck.

I get down there and had shoved everything possible under the tires including fence rails but to no avail.

I tried my Amazon faux-traxx to no avail and decided to just yank him out. I used my 30ft tow strap hooked from my receiver shackle to a hitch pin in his receiver... oh wait, I didn’t have a hitch pin in my truck, crap! Thankfully he had one, but that meant I needed to buy one. Of course the day after I get one from Amazon, my wife finds an extra haha.

Pulling him out straight back was pretty easy.

While washing my truck the other day, prior to a Queen City Off Road meet up at the USNWC, I noticed that the inside of my front driver's tire is wearing very unevenly. The passenger side is fine. Not sure if this is related to my 888 coils settling 3/4" or not, but I plan to install some 3/8" thick (3/4" lift) poly spacers from Wheelers within the next 2 weeks, then get my truck aligned again.

I have 25k on these tires and they're wearing OK considering my driving style. I probably have another year out of them before I would call the tread low and wouldn't want to off road with them. This is OK for me because I'm concerned that I may need wider tires once I get the OVT TT kit :burnrubber:. Hopefully I can stick with 255's though, as I have my eye on some 255/80/17 Ridge Grapplers (33.3"). :D
