I will come eventually, I've wanted to for a while just been way too busy, that's why I haven't updated this yet :( we got back from the honeymoon last week and our apartment management changed while we were gone and the new people decided to take our 13 month lease to a 12... meaning we have to move next week.

I'll make sure I come soon though :)

If you're going to stick with PLA or something, maybe design it hollow so that you can sink a long bolt through it to reinforce it since you can't really make the thin part of the extension any bigger without affecting the functionality of the RAM mount.

Sorry to hear about the lease change. My landlord is selling the house, so the roommates and I are all scrambling to figure out what we are going to do. For now, I have a storage unit, some tools at friends garage, some stuff at my girlfriends and I'm "moved in" into my girlfriends place (with almost nothing because her place is tiny).

Thanks for the update. I haven't dove into 3D printing yet, but want to soon.

Did some work on the custom rear seat section this week!

Basically I have never carried more than 2 passengers, and when on roadtrips we have a lot of stuff sitting in the back seats, plus, this is a daily driver so I need a decent place to put tools/shopping/etc.

I hate how much room these seats take up and have always wanted to take them out. Plus, a friend got some fantasticly nasty stains... Thanks, Matt.

Pulled out the seats and started working on measurements, nothing crazy, just space for my pack with my workout and fishing gear that lives in the truck, a better spot for my grab and go first aid kit, and a large area with a bungee cargo net for misc. items that I don't want rolling around in the back.

I wanted to make this simple, quick, easy and cheap, so I stuck with some MDF I had laying around, drilled some holes where I needed them and where I might, and lined up the original hinges and mounting so I can actually use the storage under and behind the seats.

Then it was just a matter of painting it, mounting the hooks for the bungee, my 3D printed mounts for the first aid and general gear pouches, and getting it in the truck.

It is so easy to unhook one or 2 corners of the bungee and pull it over whatever you might have there, and its doubled over so there is a huge amount of give to it. The wife even loves that it stops us having food roll around when we go to the store!

Also did my headlights, had to go down to 600 grit, then 800,1000,1500,2000,2500,3000 and 3000 wet, then a few rounds of polishing and a 3M headlight UV clear, hopefully it stays clear!

Under lighting installed! This makes parking in my crappy dark parking lot way easier, and makes you more visible if you have to be on the side of the road, and even helps packing/unpacking camp at night.

Just some aluminum channeling, high quality LED strips, and encased them in hot glue! I've used this for other outdoor applications before and they've held up fine for years and years! costs less than $20!

Used some nylon 3D printed clips to hold them to the frame rails for now, with some straps and zip ties for security at each end.

    Muuuuuuuuuuuch better!

Nice! I have thought about using aluminum U channel to hold the LED strip but had not considered hot glue to cover the lights. Light output still looks good despite the light shining through the glue. Do you find the light a little "softer" or more dispersed? Also, would you be willing to make some more of those brackets and sell them? If so, how much?

Light output is shockingly good, actually! These are the strips I used. I've probably got over 50 rolls of different LED strips in the shop and these are by far my favorite in terms of light output and quality.

As long as you use a decent quality hot glue, it sets pretty clear, and other than being a little more defused, it doesn't really cut down on any of the light.

And yea, I'll happily make some more. I'll shoot you a message soon. I can do 6 for $10 shipped to the US. :)
