Jet Ski Help

So i'm fixing my girlfriends jet ski and have never worked on a jet ski so i need to know if it is alright to start these things out of water? do i need to hook a hose up to it some where like a boat? or do i have to be in water to see if this thing runs now?

 

you want to hook it up to water if you're running it. there are a couple different hose hook up methods. Most seadoos for example have a tube on the back near the water outlet that a hose screws directly into. Last yamaha i saw had a small adapter tube that plugged into a water hose under the seat, and then a garden hose plugged into that. what kind of ski is it?

 

For 2 strokes but may apply to 4.

Don't have the hose on without the engine running for example start the ski then turn hose on quickly then turn off hose then engine quickly. This isbecause if the hose is on and the engine isn't you could shove water through the exhaust or carb and into the cylinders.

its a two stroke yahmaha waverunner 1100 . kind of older, the purple and teal addition haha

i cant find the port for the hose where's it gonna most likely be located

and its actually a Yamaha wave venture 1100 triple.

ya there is a little thing under the seat but i think it needs a stupid adapter for the hose

 

yeah it probably does. It may be something that you could get at a hardware store or it may be their quick connect thing I'm not sure.

 

ya i'm gonna go take it off and head to a hardware store to see if i can find somthin.

you guys are giving horrible advice. it doesn't need to be hooked up to water. it does however, need to have water in the gas tank. fresh water is fine for a lake but if its going in the ocean you'll want to put salt water in the gas tank. do a 1:4 mix and you should be fine




Edit: i just automatically assumed you know better than to mix water in your gas tank. i hope you know better but i started thinking about it, and if you didn't know better i'd hate to be responsible for destroying your gf's jet ski. DO NOT mix water in the gas tank

no but i got it running and runs good! i couldn't find the adapter so i just taped the hose to it with duct tape and it just dripped a little haha but worked fine.

oh my bad how could i forget i think the water in the tank is what helped. that H in H20 burns so nice
