Did a rapid fire change of spindle before a work trip. That was an exciting learning experience. Uca rub is fixed, bent the brake dust cover thing a little though so now it's periodically squeaking on the disc. Easy fix though. I'll get around to doing the driver side....eventually

Can you do that? I guess whats the real risk of something getting caught in the caliper

I haven't had mine on since 2011. Gideon hasn't had his on in a long time. Very rarely do we get anything stuck in the caliper.

Had a pretty good size rock get stuck between dust shield and rotor on my Tundra. It squealed like a pig until I stopped and dug it out. Would not have happened if dust shield would have been removed in all likelyhood.

I'll try to pry the thing back out of the way. The annoying thing about taking it off now is I pretty much have to pull the whole hub assembly again since it bolts between that and the spindle

Just keep driving. It will go away. Bent mine when we replaced cv. Squeeked for awhile. Now, not so much

I had the softopper for about a year so it's not a big deal. What's taking some adjustment is this guy I bought it from had some crazy tint on it. It looks like dusk in the middle of the day through my rearview

Some brisk morning wrenching getting this other spindle put in! People say getting the axle nut off is a pain but you're looking at my least favorite part- unseating this wheel bearing. Lots of prying and a bent dust cover when it's all said and done

NOT suggesting buying one, but take a look at Snap On catalog for the puller they sell to unseat those bearings. Then hunt through more affordable, less expensive brands....I've got an older MATCO brand puller that they no longer offer. Simple as running an impact wrench....Pop's 'em right off.

I also once saw a mechanic use the vehicles steering and some home.made "stand offs" between frame and hub to push them off. Not suggesting that....Put a LOT of stress on parts that are already a bit light. But....Poor people have poor ways. Got the job done with less effort....

Because nothing is ever easy, I noticed my driver side tie rod end had a torn boot on the joint. So that got replaced too... Now with grease fitting!
