Hey guys, need a little help. I did some research and couldn't find any posts about similar issues so I decided to start a thread.

A little back story first. Bought the truck last Thursday. It's a TRD OR DCSB 4WD auto. It was a dealer trade so it had 405 miles on it when I picked it up. I love everything about the truck but did notice a few problems I want to have addressed. One of the first things I noticed was that when coming to a stop the brakes felt like they were jittery. Almost like ABS but not as significant. Also sometimes right before I come to a complete stop its almost as if the brakes just give out and the pedal depresses leaving me to release the brakes and reapply to complete the stop. I've never owned a brand new vehicle before so I chalked it up to the brakes breaking in and let it go. Well after a 1500 mile road trip the issue is still there. I'm taking it into the dealer this week to have them look at this issue and the notorious shaking hood but I was hoping someone else experienced the same problems and found some resolution from their dealer (that happens, right?). Thanks in advance!

Find a safe spot to Hard fast brake from 90kph to 40.

Repeat 2-3 times and normal brake, then report back.

Crap can build up on the rotors. This is a kind of self clean.

I have this same issue on my Aclb OR 4x4. Brake depression is not completely smooth, like micro clicks at certain points. It is annoying but haven't taken it to dealer yet. Hoping for a TSB but appears that this is chalked up to normal driving conditon.

Well I attempted the "cleaning the rotors" method suggested. As suspected it didn't change anything. I've owned 12 different vehicles from 10 different manufacturers and have never experienced this as a "normal driving condition". I hope they don't try to play that game with me.

 Surface rust on rotors has nothing to do with brake pressure

Maybe he should try it at like 150kph and see if that works:crazy:

Nothing to do with surface rust. Brake pad material can build on rotors causing slick spots with light braking. This is sort of a forced self clean.

Hard braking scrubs the rotors and pads. Obviously not need all the time and can overheat pads if done so.

Which brings me to the final part of OPs comment, brake fade... lift the truck, stick in neutral and spin the wheel. If anything more than light drag, readjust brakes. Usually caused by braking in reverse (auto adjusting) and usually the rears (drums).

I have vibration in the brake pedal, steering wheel, floor board and seat when I come to a stop, along with the rumble strip feeling. I'd say they are related conditions, but maybe your's isn't affected to the same degree that others have. I hate it too, so I feel your pain.

No warning lights. Aside from the brake issue I love the truck. I just hope Toyota can find a resolution to all these little "annoyances" that so many owners seem to be dealing with.

I guess the two next things I would check are fluid level and how abs/vsc works when hard stopped.

My truck does the exact same shit. Took it to the dealer.......got the default response. "We can't duplicate what your talking about. It's normal." Good luck and let us know if you ever get it fixed.

The vibration only in the pedal in a TRD OR is the electric hydraulic pump pressurizing the system vs. the vacuum models in other models. Helps with low RPM threshold braking.

I dont know about it depressing to the floor and having to reapply. Mine doesnt do that.

So, you get vibration in the pedal as well? Perhaps this could be the explanation I've been searching for. Never knew there was a difference in brake boosters between the OR and other models.
