The sound quality of the Focals is nothing short of amazing. I've been using JL subs for years and was a little bummed when I found out I couldn't use my 10W6 in the Taco because of the limited mounting depth available. The 10TW3 does NOT disappoint! The system perfectly balanced...and I haven't even fine-tuned the EQ yet. I was really happy with the ability to run the stock head unit too. Got to hand it to *********, they may not be the most responsive but the Recurve EZQ is a great product and I personally had no issues with delayed shipping or anything. My experience was great.

I've been hitting all my favorite songs of different types and these Focals are just amazing! The really liven up the mids and kick drums. The Stealtbox hits hard but not so much as to take away from the balance. Absolutely loving this system.

None! I specifically mentioned the intrusion of noise to my installer and he either mitigated it perfectly through his outstanding installation or the product is not producing it.

You should help me out... i have a full focal system very similar to yours and it sounds like SH*T for what i spent. Seriously dissapointed in it and i have the Flax components up front (a little better than yours) and same rears as you. my bass is really punchy and mid bass is lacking pretty bad. Did you have any trouble tuning or getting it to sound right?

Pioneer nex receiver and Alpine PDX 5 channel amp. ********* 12" ported sub. No EQ, though the one in the NEX deck isnt too bad. Any advice would be appreciated cuz right now i dont believe anyone that says their Focals sound good!

    P.S. nice looking install....

Ranger, the mid bass from the head unit is horrible. I eq'd my system by measuring and tuning for absolute flat response, I had to boost those frequencies quite a bit. Sound deadening in the doors, and a solid MDF frame for the speaker help a LOT. I don't have Focals (wish I did) but they are excellent speakers.

Well the Recurve would save me $200 off a bitTen... did you order it yourself or did your installer get it for you? I'm just a tad sketched out about ordering from them...

I would second what skootx said. The sound deadening made my doors sound so much better. I've got the same fronts and backs as the OP, JL amps and sound deadening on the doors. Sounds awesome, couldn't be happier.

    Nice setup, OP!

But he has an aftermarket head unit...

The mid bass from our truck is horrible. The vehicle acoustics create a lul in mid bass production that is hard to combat without an audio processor. Sound deadening helps out a ton. What I noticed that made the biggest difference in that nasty drop around 500hz in my last truck was creating a foam gasket between my speaker mounts and door panel. That helped out a lot, but I still had to boost that area quite a bit on my Bit One.

For those of you boosting frequencies above +3db, make sure you account for that in your gain structures or you could be setting yourself up for some nasty distortion / clipping.

Yeah, I actually should have said that I had to lower all the other frequencies a lot, even with the sound deadening. I used a thin bead of silicone caulk instead of a gasket.

OP is using the stock head unit, read the third post in the thread.

Correct, that was the whole point behind getting the EZQ. I did order directly from ********* and was a bit nervous after my phone calls and emails weren't getting a response (which is pretty par for the course I guess). I got an answer the third day and I had my products in a bout a week. No complaints.

I ordered the plastic door mounts too and the installer used a seal between the speakers and the mounts and also added some dynamat around the speakers. Maybe this makes the difference but I'm very impressed so far. The Focals are a bit on the bright side, which is a common thing with these speakers from what I understand. But if that's my only complaint so far then I'm happy.

How did the JL box fit? Any trimming. PM me the cost to do something like this. I hate the stock sound but like to keep the factory head unit. Did you install it yourself? How long did it take. Did you buy a kit from *********. Sweet truck post some pics of it.
