It won’t fry at 300 watts? Just seeing it was rated at 250 max it’s a single voice coil

No it won’t fry it as long as it’s not clipping it

Clipping as in overdriving the amp by turning the amp knob up past the headunit output voltage which will cause distortion. I’m running an amp capable of 260wrms per channel to a pair of 100wrms rated Focal Utopias and they sound phenomenal compared to the 120wrms I was initially giving them bc I had to max out the amps capability to give them that 120wrms. I’m also running 660wrms from sub channel of an AB amplifier to my 12tw3-4 that is rated for 400wrms with zero issues. Sounds great. My system was tuned by a very well respected professional though and I probably wouldn’t recommend doing this unless you totally understand what you’re doing. I only post this information so you know it’s not all about rated rms power but that is technically the absolute safest way to go. Most higher end speakers can handle more non distorted power than they’re rated for and the JL subs amongst many others are some of them that can. I was running my 8w3v3 bridged on 2 channels of my JL HD 600/4@300wrms but I made sure I set the gains correctly for no distortion or a minimum of distortion. Subs can handle a minor amount of distortion better than the other drivers in system but it’s better to have none. Distortion is what blows speakers not power for the most part. Now you don’t wanna run double or triple power to most speakers. I wouldn’t recommend that but 300 to that JL 8w3v3 will eat it up with a smile

The latch is 12” high. I made my box 12.5 inches and had to cut it out a little bit to fit the latch around it.

So the head unit output must be in sync with the amp? But the amp produces more voltage than the factory radio?

Agree with others that have said 8” JL Micro hits amazingly good. My wife has one in her Accord so I stuck it in my truck just to see what it sounded like. Just as good as my 10” JL. She loses a lot of sound having it in her trunk though. We are thinking about trading out for something bigger.

The headunit or factory stereo(same thing) output needs to have its highest level of non distorted signal being output and be matched to the amp input to give you a non distorted signal throughout

so measure the output voltage with a multimeter and set the same voltage to the amp?

Anyone on this thread provide some advice on getting a sub upgrade for my 2020 Limited w/JBL. I upgraded all of my speakers and I notice a difference in sound quality. Amazed at how cheap the stock JBL speakers are... I realize the amp piece of the puzzle is still a mystery due to the JBL 2 ohm set up, however, if upgrading my amp is a step in the right direction I am curious if anyone here has suggestions. The JL referenced in this thread is of interest but not sure if its plug and play.

2.5 inch lift, 285/75r16s, upgraded stereo system, Magnuson mp90 supercharger system.
It’s a pretty popular discussion topic for second and third gen trucks. If you search around on the site a little bit you should be able to find all the info you need.

Will one of these boxes fit an Access Cab 3rd gen? I’d be fine with under the passenger seat if needed. I have to keep the jump seats though for now.
