Well, I see you're throwing a solid axle on the front. Could you have kept the back as a leaf spring/standard shocks setup with your axle? You won't have leaf springs when you're done right? What's the difference in that setup versus what you're doing?

Oh okay yeah i could of left the rear axle stock and just lifted it a little more. If i did that i would have the weak link that would be the rear axle. I'm swapping out the rear axle at the same time. And removing the leafs and fabricating a 3 link suspension with coil overs supporting the weight of the truck. It provides a way better ride and well as a lot more flex then a traditional leaf spring set up.

The cantilever shocks are a whole another can or worms and that's still just an idea not sure how i'm going to set the shocks up yet but i know i will have coilovers and links front and rear.

Ah, ok cool. Hopefully when the snow melts and your rig is finished I will have my tires and gears set up as well so I can wheel with you guys and check out your truck. What you're doing sounds complicated and cool and I want to see it :D

What # coils would go in the rear? 500ish or so?

Yeah man i'll be itching to get out and wheel when its done. And i will be running dual rate coilovers that have 2 coils on them with different spring rates. And until i have everything cut out i have no clue what the spring weights will be.

We were just leaving the Rubicon. I ran the rubicon trail and then drove the 529 miles back to my house in Huntington Beach with no issues at all. the 4Runner in that video drove from Savana Georgia to the Rubicon, ran it, then drove down to L.A., ran the Mojave trail and drove back to Savana Georgia in his front and rear three link truck with no issues.

When these things are built right you can trust them to take you anywhere. ;)

Here is a quick numbers shot of the front and rear if I was going 3 link on both. Granted I'm still not sure if the panhard can fit that high. If i can get 30" out of the rear the the Roll Axis go's down to 0.17 degrees.

    Right on Jerry!

Maybe you'd be able to utilize a design similar to this for mounting your coilovers:

Might help in keeping the bed fully intact

i'd like to mount them on top of the axle out of harms way If i have to punch a small hole in the bed so be it. And wholly upper link mount  that thing is huge!

Its to maintain proper vertical seperation with the lower links. The lowers are set up for link clearance. The lowers are actually above the axletube.

If it's for link clearance, what's the point in doing that? Isn't the driveline still lower and now exposed to a greater risk of damage?

I could understand more if it was to simply achieve a flatter link setup.

It looks like it could be for a flatter lower link but I would rather hit a link then my drive line.

Which is exactly why I set my lowers at dead center on the axle and not an inch higher. Both of my axles are set that way. Thats why I say sometimes that three link calculator can get you doing things that you don't need to or want to do.

Nope they can fully compress they are fully adjustable if i want it flexy all I need to do is drop the pressure and pump them back up for the drive home. And if i load the bed up I can pump them up to hold the load something you can't do with CO's

Interesting, so they're more of an Air-Shock then an strut. Misunderstood the concept of them then.

How do you set Ride height with them, purely based on internal pressure?
