Don’t worry he doesn’t have anything but factory skids too.

That was just normal fuckery. The fact still remains though, steel skids would be overkill for me.

Yeah and they are bent to like crazy.
Never said anything about steel skids :pJust how terrible the stock skid plate is on these things(it literally has mesh in important spots). You did a great job cleaning and painting the stock skid

Probably will eventually. Even then 1/4" aluminum would be overkill for me. I don't go slamming my shit off rocks. I aint that hardcore

Was able to knock another thing off the Maint. List yesterday. With quite a bit of surface rust but nothing to bad just yet, I wanted to get ahead of the issue. After reading so many rave reviews about FluidFilm I decided to give it a try.

I was able to pick some up from the Autozone near me for about $13.00 a can. I bought 2 cans and used 1 and 3/4 cans. No prep work was really done but frame and all suspension components were relatively clean and 100% dry.

Some of the surface rust in question.

    FluidFilm in aerosol cans.

Having never used this stuff before I glanced at the instructions and per the can ... " you can spray it on everything " so that pretty much what I did. Frame, cab mounts, suspension components, Axles and diff's, cab mounts. If I could reach it, it got sprayed but within reason.

It definitely goes on with a very filmy consistency and does have an oily smell. 24hrs later it looks just like it did when I sprayed it on. Hopefully this will keep the corrosion reasonable on this 18 year old frame.

I will go back in the next few days and give everything a once over and look for spots i missed or areas that could use a little more. Living in the south we dont really have any issues with salt and slag but we spend a considerable amount of time at the beach and on the beach and protection from those elements cant hurt.

All that mall crawling has beat up my skids. The kdss skid plate is half mesh, at least yours has more tinfoil. We need to plan a camping trip to uwharrie or the gulches.

Why is the mesh portion so much bigger on the KDSS models?

Didn't realize that but I guess that makes sense. I've been meaning to ditch mine. I think my coil overs are stiff enough to negate any benefit of keeping the swaybar.

Rip it out! I am half tempted to rip out the kdss system, but it is still working for the time being.

have you driven one with KDSS? If not, don't knock it.

Also, its not only for on-road performance, but you get a lot more articulation with KDSS compared to conventional sway bars...There is a reason I'm keeping it on mine

I was referring to body roll if/when I take my swaybar out.

take that shit off. Those factory sway bars don’t really do much except get in the way of things.
