What do you think of John Wayne's 1971 playboy interview. Is this an interview that was grossly taken out of context. And what is your opinion on a possible renaming of the John Wayne Airport and removing his iconic statue because of a 48 year old interview.

And so it comes to this.
This is the most important problem we're faced with?

Soon, no one will know the true past.

Makes me think of this quote:

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

Some people just want to rewrite history because they don't like it.
Leave history alone. Learn from it.

How sad, how true. Someone smarter than I am said that "1984" was a warning but some took it as a manual.

I just watched his son that was interviewed about this. My 1st thought was what's this about...then I realized that he was discussing an, as mentioned above, a almost 50 years ago interview!
It was along time ago people...let it go and move on.

Nowadays some groups of people will find something to be offended about regardless of when it happened.

I'm waiting for a group of feminists to file a lawsuit against cavemen for whacking females over the head and dragging them by the hair.

Somehow that reminds me of certain folks demanding "reparations" from folks who had nothing to do with the generations ago incidents.

Mostly I think it's silly to get worked up over what an actor or actress thinks personally. To take an interview out of context from almost 50 years ago is even sillier. If we held actors to our own personal standard, what would we ever watch? A guy like Tom Cruise can make a dang good movie, but he's nuttier than a jar of crunchy Jif.

John Wayne is an American Icon. Leave it at that and stop rewriting history.

I see actors, professional athletes, famous musicians, etc. as puppets that are there merely for my entertainment. Unless they disagree w/my beliefs. Then I boycott them. Ha!

So, what? We look to Hollywood for the truth? In my life, I have needed a doctor, a nurse, a dentist, a teacher(s), an electrician, an auto mechanic, a cop, a fireman, a plumber, a machinist, an engineer, a software developer, an IT guru, a painter, a garbageman, a carpenter, a farmer, a check out person in the grocery store, lawn care specialist, an accountant, a funeral director.....but never in my entire life have I ever once needed an actor.

A little over a hundred years ago, actors were on the same societal level as whores. When and more importantly WHY did that ever change? Both are paid to be something they are not.
