Good call, next time I'll wait for sale! Was hot to get a battery with upcoming trip, so patience went out the window :)

Btw I think I'm gonna keep the softopper for winters after all. And I think my wife would be pissed if I sold it haha.

Other news, three shackles is better than one

You don't leave them on there all the time, do you? Never understood why people do that on a daily driver. Hey look, $30 of free stuff!

Probably will, yes. Hopefully they'll take the quick bait instead of the other stuff :) but I see what you mean. Honestly I drive my truck to work (residential, safe community) then back to my garage. Occasional runs to store during peak hours and up to church. That's about it. Not that worried about it tbh. Who knows maybe I'll just throw it all behind the seat...

That's true about it being quick bait. But still, that's like 6 Mexican hole-in-the-wall burritos, man! :p :D

Touché. I'll think on that a little more. For now I have three recovery points \m/

All you need to do is put a screwdriver through the hole and make it real tight. That'll prevent anyone from coming up and unscrewing it by hand. A small deturrant like that might just be enough for a thief to give up

FWIW, I have a shackle hand tightened on the front of my truck 24/7 and it has yet to be stolen. I park outside every night since my truck is too tall for the garage

I have all my shackles on year round....I put little brinks locks on them :p My son could probably chew through those locks...haha, but hey, its a deterrent I guess

Thanks... it's a very long, slow progression.... work plus family time leaves very little truck time, it's getting close to where I want it though. Keep up the nice work ;)

What is the back spacing/offset on the rims as of August 2014 and what kind of rims are they?

Those are the pacer aluminum wheels I have now, 15x8, ~3.75 backspace. I also had 1.25" bora spacers. Those have since been removed.

So since the slick rock trip wasn't going to work for me right now, my wife and I went camping with some friends up in Santa Cruz (Mount Madonna). No wheeling, just good times camping. I played around with the camera, first time shooting long exposure, which was pretty fun. Got some shots of the truck too for kicks, as if I don't have enough already :) Anyways, here are a few..

    RTT all set up:

Sitting around the campfire - one of the guys on this trip who is a videographer (is this a word?) decided to light paint a cock and balls... Funny stuff:

Been quiet in here... anyways, got some fun stuff on the horizon.

Should be fitting up my trans and tcase skids this week. Also have been cleaning up dinged and rusty armor.

My diff is leaking. No surprise since I didn't seal it when I closed it up last year. Can't believe it didn't leak sooner. So since I need to pull the diff anyways... decided to get new gears. Probably gonna order those through ecgs in a month. Still debating between 4.88 and 5.29, but leaning towards 5.29.

Pics to come soon of new skids! Terrified to drill into frame...

I've been hugely happy with my 4.88s. Re-geared a year and a half ago after I went with 285s. With the automatic transmission, I'm spinning just a hair over 2.5k rpms at 70mph.
