To apply for CID you have to be a 31B (MP), have at least two years time in service, be 21 or older, and have at least two years of college. And oddly enough you can not be higher then an SGT (E5). I never understood this one.

You absolutely sure? One of the CID guys I worked with was an 11B (Infantry I think) before going CID.

Another guy was an interrogator (Not sure what mos number that is)

The other requirements sound about right as far as TIS and TIG.

Not trying to call you out on it though, you know alot more about the Army than me.

I just check their website (LINK) and this is their prerequisite.

Minimum of one year of military police experience or two civilian police experience (a waiver of this prerequisite may be considered)

I guess it depends on how bad they want you.

I will tell you this though and this is something I know and do have experience with. You can forget about being a 311A (CID Warrant Officer) based on civilian experience. I don't care if you are Dick Tracy. If you don't have the two years experience as a 31D you can forget about it.

They probably had it waived. The interrogator friend actually got picked up for the warrant program. He even had the grade requirement waived.

Really smart guy, he was fluent in russian and chinese. Great asset to CID. Probably why he got what he wanted.

You're friend really had something they wanted. I recruited WO's for the Army Reserve for 7 years and the CID Proponent was the toughest of any of them to get approved.

I had a guy who was an MP (not CID qualified) in a Reserve Unit and worked as Civilian Special Agent for CID. As a matter of fact he worked just down the hall from the Proponent Chief and she turned him down. I had a Philadelphia Detective with 9 years of experience and was in the Reserve as a MP and his waiver got disapproved. Most Proponents would work with you but CID never budged in any of their Prerequisites and were quite arrogant about it. I hated dealing with them.

By the way, I got a few applicants from the Air Force Reserve. It was in fact easier for me to get a DD368 (Conditional Release) signed by them then it was with the Army National Guard. So any NCO's in the AF Reserve out there with certain skills can submit a WO packet for approval in the Army Reserve. You are only transferred if you get accepted.

Sorry for getting off topic OP
